    Hi

i am thinking of either buying a sager 9280 or m17x
whom ever I ask tells me alienware is terrible in their after sales support, anyone experienced such a thing? knowing its a Dell doesn't assure me at all
on the other hand i heard sager is great in its customer support but I don't want to order a laptop from the US and ship it back in case something happens

I should also note sager has better specs and a lower price

loads of people here have had very positive experiences with AW customer service, me included. plus, Dell will presumably offer onsite warranty repairs for AWs now as well, so that's another plus.

There are horror stories for AW customer support but there have been plenty of good stories too. Same for Dell. And the M17x destroyes the Sager as the M17x has 280M SLI...

I have owned both and I would not know about Sager customer support because I never had a problem with it during its three years. Alienware support is hit or miss, ranging from miserable to very good. It's a crap shoot when you have a problem.

Alienware is terrible after the sale yes.
But Dell has the service end now, and they are good to deal with.
go M17x, you wont be sorry

As a lot of you know by now, I was the unlucky one and received a defective M17X.

Anyways, AW would not replace it right away which is normal I guess. They had to run diagnostics and it took about 6 hours on a working day. Good thing I work from home.

They sent me a new one...

Overall, I am very happy with their customer service. My cousin which bought one at the same time than me also had a small issue and they fixed it right away. His screen was defective. They sent the part to a local technician and he will come to replace it. He tried to have them send the parts to him so he can do it himself but they would not.

I am staying for one more month in Canada, I won't be able to run after them asking them for repairs and stuff, I can't risk having to take back a defective laptop with me so I guess sager is the way to go for me
    thanks for the help

According to CR Dell rate as very good when it come to support. At last report, they received a rating of 60 and 65 on laptop and desk top respectively. That's the second and third highest of the major manufacturers.

That said, Apple still remains the undisputed king of support by a good margin. Their customer satisfaction ratings were in the 80's!

Every guy who got problems with any seller will complain about it in sites like resellerratings but this isn't true for who don't have problems...

TBH those sites don't mean much for me.

Between my wife, myself and my oldest son we have purchased 4 laptops and one desktop from Dell. I have purchased 3 computers from Alienware. Fortunately I have mostly good experiences with all the computers. When I did have problems I found customer support for both Alienware and Dell to very helpful.

I will most likely never buy a computer from anyone but Dell or Alienware. I am very happy that they are now under one company :)

And i will never buy from AW again.. terrible expirience on my end.
As you see the responses are mixed..

I sold my M17, since i had an unresolvable problem with it (quad core stuttering), and went for the rig you see in my sig.. if you wait another 3-4 days ill also have a full review with actual gaming benchies of the 9280 up and you can decide than.

Have had problems with Alienware products, M15X, original M17X, and current game stuttering M17 but the service has always been excellent.
