Hi
Currently planning in getting an AW 15 in August...I would like to know if the ghosting issue still exist or they finally fixed it? If it still does exist then which screen display should I choose to best avoid such issue?
15.6 inch FHD (1920 x 1080) IPS Anti-Glare 220-nits Display
15.6 inch UHD (3840 x 2160) IGZO IPS Anti-Glare 300-nits Display
15.6 inch UHD (3840 x 2160) IPS-Panel TrueLife 350-nits Display with Touch Technology
They said that this problem occurs with a regular 1080 display

I don't really need a 4K display nor the touchscreen, and preferably a 1080p display is more than sufficient and can save me a few dollar, but if its going to suffer such issue I would not hesitate to get the 4k instead.
Is the 350-nits have any display difference than just a 300-nits?
Thanks!

I don't have any ghosting on my 4k screen. There is some light bleed in some of the corners though.

4K on 15" will mess everything up and DPI scaling is still not working as it should. Better make sure that you can live with 4K resolution and it's issues. Many older games just won't scale up it's interface.

I mean I'm not really planning in using the 3840 x 2160 on the laptop screen but rather just choosing the 4K panel to avoid those nasty ghosting problems.Last edited: Jul 20, 2016 -
As far as the scaling.....I don't see any problem at all. I play most games at 1080 (I consider the minimum these days). -

That good luck statement though..... -
Not saying you will hate it because some people do not. Just saying, beware... don't spend money until you are 100% certain you will have no regrets. It's an expensive mistake to make if the only reason you want it is so you can be part of the 4K popularity club.
Touch sucks more than 4K. Look at your smartphone. See the slime and filth on the screen? Now, picture that on your laptop screen, only with more scratches... nasty, filthy, scummy.Last edited: Jul 20, 2016 -
Beware, any IPS screen is prone to ghosting. That's just one of the inherent properties of IPS. Some manufacturers do a better job of minimizing it, just depends on the panel lottery for which ever one you get.
Comment about 4K: It has no place on a laptop. Maybe on a nice 24" monitor or 28" monitor, but certainly not in anything 17" or less, nevermind a 15". Windows still does a poor job of scaling (unlike mac OS, which handles scaling marvelously). Ideally, 1920x1200 is the perfect resolution but since 16:10 is dead, 1920x1080 will have to doAshtrix, GodlikeRU, Beemo and 1 other person like this. -
And for other technologies. Yeah @Raidriar is right, most of IPS screens has ghosting issues. IPS is a technology where ghosting will just exist because of the method how it works. Some manufacturers implements special modes in IPS displays (for example Iiyama overdrive) but there are still some ghosting issues.
Personally I think TN screens still can be very good compared to PLS/VA/IPS screens. Technology of screen is not that important as quality that display has. There are some really wonderful TN screens that kills most of the display on the market.
One and only revolution is OLED screen. It's bright and has great contrast ratio. Just need few years for it to adapt.Beemo likes this. -
M18x has also a very good quality TN panel, fast response time, strong blacks, 98% sRGB coverage.
Best of all, NO LIGHT BLEED OR GHOSTING.
Be picky about your panels. If you get a bleeding panel, send back the computer. I can't tolerate the bleeding (yellowing in dark areas) and neither should you.
Question about ghosting and which screen to choose
