Okay, basically, I'm considering overclocking my Q9000 a bit (probably to around 2.4-2.6GHz) using some front side bus overclocking software (I'll find some if I do try it). First off though, I want to check, would overclocking it permenantly void the warranty? Or is it just if you screw up the processor while doing so? And is there any way they can find out if you've overclocked, if you send it back standard?
And next, a few questions about temps. I just want to first make sure that my idle temperature of 43-45 is good. And next, what sort of temperature boundaries should I be sticking to? At what sort of point would it begin to shorten the life of the processor?
Thanks for the help.

as long as you sent it back with out any of the overclocking software on and don't change the bios then no they wont be able to tell
as far as temps go id say about 75C under load is the max u should let it go
i overclocked my p8400 to 2.7 and it didn't go over 67C
software to use setfsb -
Your temps are fine. Just keep a close eye on them when you OC.
Using Setfsb, all of the stock settings are back in place upon rebooting.
