I saw 4870*2 video cards available on M17X .Is it possible that I buy 4870*2 to upgrade my M17 (3870*2)in the future?

If you have MXM 3.0b and alienware sells them then It would seem plausable but I would think the older M17 prob has MXM2.1

The 4870s are MXM 3.0b cards, whereas the slots in the M17 are MXM 2.1. So, they won't even fit.

There are however MXM 2.1 4850 video cards that will fit. Alienware offerede them for an upgrade but cancelled all the orders a few days later. (Only one known person recieved them as an upgrade) They also offered them with new systems for a short time. I doubt they'll offer them as an upgrade.

Its strange they had so few of those cards that they didn't really try selling them? Why would a company like dell have aquired a small batch of cards paying a higher price to only give it to a few people? One option is people selling them other then dell. I can see a few people buying a new SLI/XF card set then selling one to get some $ back.
