Does the M15x suffer from all the same shuttering sound and video issues as well as terrible wireless like the M17x?

    Any info appreciated.

Also does it have the hybrid video card as well?

From what ive heard no stutter issue, but there was keyboard issues in power save mode when un plugged. most issues got cleaned up with the new bios so not a big deal. (mouse input lag etc)

    Also, Single video card only.

Storm - Do you Game on yours? Does the M15x have a NVIDIA Motherboard chipset or Intel? Which Wireless card? When you say single video card you mean no hybrid onboard video, just the 260 1GB card?

Sorry for all the questions and thanks for the answers.

M15x has an Intel chipset along with Intel WiFi Link 5300 wireless. It only has a 260m, no 9400m.

I stand corrected, I'll edit my post to reflect that. Thanks.

The Intel chipset and Wireless card sounds great.

Any problems with the current model m15x under windows 7 64bit at all?

    Don't have mine yet.
But again I've heard no major issues.

Almost any issues the M15x were due to the bios and were fixed with the update. I do believe stealth mode still does not work when on battery but hopefully a fix for that will arrive in the near future. (not a deal breaker for me atleast)

As for specs, (again this is from all that I read)

    Intel Core i7 720QM 1.6GHz
The 720QM is the best bang for the buck and there is no real need to upgrade beyond that right now except for a) benchmarking b)if you have the money to upgrade

    4GB Dual Ch. DDR3 at 1066MHz
Currently you wont use more then 4 gb of ram for gaming/daily usage.
And you can always upgrade later.
1333Mhz is supposed to give a performance boost since the i7 has no FSB, but right now that may be negligible as you will mostly be bottle necked by your GPU and not the memory. Upgrade to 1333Mhz if $ is not a problem. (I will probably upgrade mine in the future)

    15.6-inch Wide FHD 1920x1080
Completely a preference. Both screens are good, for gaming you will probably notice little difference while gaming (720p vs 1080p on a 15" screen) No real reason to cheap out here when buying this machine, but always your call.

    1GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M
A must if you are planning to game on this rig. No questions.

    250GB 7,200RPM
This is what I bought, but really you will see some good performance boosts out of the SSD and from what i read its a pretty good value on a decent SSD. Hard drive is completely your preference. (I will upgrade later as I cant afford to bump this up right now)

    Primary - 6-cell (56Watt) Battery
Preference again. My laptop will mostly be plugged in wherever I go, i just fly a bit so the slightly better portability of the 15x was more appealing to me. Cheap upgrade to 9 cell so use your judgement. From what I have seen the 9 cell does add a little bulk to the back of the M15x (Can anyone confirm/deny?)

    Slot-Loading DVD Burner
Preference again. I think blu ray is a useless media form when we are in the digital age. But movies look pretty :) Plus Blu ray drive = better resale value down the line.

Disclaimer: These are my beliefs and by no means reflect 100% sound accuracy and knowledge. Lol....Don't shoot me if i'm wrong or disagree with anything anyone else says :p
