Hi all,
My apologies - I had thought there was a thread on what does and does not void the warranty, but the search fuction didn't turn up the one I wanted, so I'll go ahead and ask.
I'm concerned with the temps on my M17, specced in sig. The highest I've seen is 98 C under load; I've contacted alienware who said not to worry, it's good to 100. It seems to me that 98 is awfully close to 100, so I'm still concerned (keep in mind, this is while using a good cooler, a Cryo NZXT.
I have heard people comment that removing the dust filters form the air intakes substantially increases the airflow and lowers temps, so I'm thinking about trying this, but recently while I had my laptop open to clean it, I noticed there really isn't a way to remove those that allows for easy reattachment.
So, the question - does something as simple as removing the dust covers void the warranty?
(Oh, should mention that the laptop is clean, too - so it's not a heat problem caused by dust buildup....)
If any of the alienware reps are still around, I'd love to get them to weigh in on what does or does not void the Alienware warranty. I went with the three year option for my machine, and my primary concern is keeping that alive!

no it does not
I made a guide what will void your warranty -

Would be lovely if you posted it in this thread.
As for coolers, try running your M17 without. Sometimes they do more harm than good.
Question on warranties - if any Alienware reps are around, would love 'official' input
