I purchased my m9750 about 1 year ago when it just came out. Now it's quite oudated compared to m15x. I'm thinking about upgrading it personally but a bit unsure which parts to go first.
The spec when i bought it:
Core 2 Duo 2.00GHZ T7200 4MB
2GB QIMONDA PC2-5300 DDR2
Single Nvidia 7950 GTX 512MB
Single Samsung 160GB 5400RPM HDD
17 "WXGA
VISTA PREMIUM 32 bit
The proposed uprade:
Core 2 Extreme Mobile X9000 6MB (approx £300)
Another Nvidia 7950 GTX to get SLI (don't know where to buy and price in the UK yet)
Another 2GB DDR2 (just wonder if Vista 32bit support 4GB. I haven't been to Notebook Review for a while so have little technical update info on that)
I'd appreciate if any guru give me advice/experience about the upgrade.
Thx a bunch,
Jim

Core 2 Extreme Mobile X9000 6MB - wont work on your mobo!
Another Nvidia 7950 GTX to get SLI-you can do this
Another 2GB DDR2 -vista 32bit cant support more then 3 gb.
can i give you a better advice?sell your m9750 and buy new one ,bc it ll be around same price. -
m15x doesn't offer 17'', besides i'm waiting for m17x. Uprading m9750 for a time being is perhaps the best choice -
you might be able to get the GPU from mxm-upgrade.com. not sure though.

Try calling AW technical support. They should be able to sell you the 7950GTX daughter card and sli cable.

1. The maximum memory the M9750 can use with SLi cards is 2.5GB. This means that you can have 1 2GB stick and a 512MB Stick and that is all you can use. Getting over 2.5GB is a waste.
2. That processor won't work on your Mobo
3. That video card sounds fine, it will work. -

dual channel is not that big of benefit IMO

Any chance Vista 64bit could recognise 4gig ram?
If i wish to upgrade the processor? which 1 should i go for?
Thx again, -

The M9750 will be restricted to 2.5GB of RAM with dual video cards no matter what, installing a 64-bit OS does not fix that unfortunately.
I recommend not upgrading the processor, it's not going to make a difference. The only processors you can go to are the T7400 (2.16GHz) and the T7600 (2.33GHz), which will provide unnoticeable performance increases. Both of those processors are absurdly expensive anyway, you'll never get any return on your investment.
I personally would just stick with the 2GB of RAM. Unless you are running into situations where you need more, it's not worth it to invest in more.
