Hey fellow Alienware owners, i was wondering if ya'll could clear up a few questions i have...

    Here is what i purchased:

    Alienware m17x
    2x 8800GTX's
    Intel x9300 2.5GHz Proccessor
    Windows Vista Ultimate
    24x CD/DVD Burner

    Here are my questions...

    1. I ran the free edition of 3DMark06 and received a 11,470 score...Is this below average, average, or above average for my system and specs?

    2. I believe I am running Windows Vista 32-bit OS, but when looking at my system specs It says that my CPU's architecture is 64-bit...does this mean I have the ability to run the 64 bit OS? Also when I went to apple to download iTunes it scanned my system and told me I have windows vista 64-bit!

    3. Last but not least...what drivers are ya'll using?

I appreciate everything! Thank you so much.

    Hi Silent
thats quite a good 3D score but im only going by what my old m15x with one 8800 card which was 9698 score.
hopefully someone else with a dual card will confirm your above score.

    windows 32bit or 64bit:
go to start >> control panel >> system.
this will show exactly what set up you have got.
if it says 32bit in there then iTunes was lying.

In regards to your second question: You have a 64-bit capable CPU; however, AW does not ship any 64-bit version of Windows with their systems.

I run Suse 10.3 64-bit Linux and it runs just fine. It sees and can use all 4GB of RAM.

He'll only get the score he has got. I got 12K+ but, i've also got the 2.8Ghz "extreme" processor and it seems to use CPU power for the test as well...

    Just my 2p...

    It's a good score though

His score is just fine, I have the same setup and I vary between 11400 and 11800. The extreme processor bumps those score past the 12k mark.

Apoc, if you have 8700's in SLi, upgrading your CPU will not do too much to increase your 3dmark06 score. I think at best, you're getting 7000ish?

Silent_Scope, I take it you were credited for your previous m9750 or is this a new purchase? Congrats btw!

yea i know but i could use a better processor 2.5 or 2.8, also i heard the-
9800's are in the works for the m17x so i'll wait to see if this is true before buying video cards.

There's nothing wrong with your processor, it is in no way the bottleneck. 2.5GHz is fast enough for any game; you will not notice a difference between it and a 2.8GHz one.
