I recently got my Alienware M11X and I'm in love with it, I do however have a couple of questions that I would like to ask.

    1. My M11X came with a U7300 CPU and I noticed that I can overclock it easily through the bios. Would overclocking it give me any noticeable performance increases in applications such as Microsoft Word and Visual Studio or does it only effect video games? Also does overclocking the CPU all the time have any negative effects on the M11X?

    2. This question is similar to the above except it's about the GPU this time. Does enabling the discrete GPU (GT335M) all the time have any negative effects on the system? does it effect any other applications or only video games?

    3. I was thinking about buying an SSD for my M11X. do you think this is a good idea? because my current cpu right now scores 4.1 on the Windows Experience Index, and the intel SSD that I had my eyes on tops the charts with a 7.9 score. Wouldn't my CPU severely bottleneck an SSD's performance when used together?

    1. Should be no problem with running the SU7300 overclocked. You'll most likely see improved performance in Visual Studio when compiling. Word not so much.

    2. Battery life will be shorther.

    3. WEI is useless... I'm running a SSD in my M11x. Boot time on the stock drive was around 110 seconds. Boot time with the SSD is around 40 seconds. The drives are always a bottleneck...

I see...I think I'll always keep the CPU overclocked and I'll also always use the GT335M since I'm near a power source at all times.

I'm also amazed by the dramatic increase in boot time between SSD and HDD, but I'm such a tightwad so I think I'll wait for the prices to drop a bit before I upgrade.

    Thanks for the advice.
