Now, it's probably just me, but I notice that the majority of M15x owners that experience problems (after the BIOS fix as well) mainly dealing with chassis cracking/splitting/etc. are 8800M users. But I haven't gone through every single thread so I'm not sure if this problems extends to those who use the 8700M GT, and maybe it has nothing to do with the card after all.

But because I don't think I've heard from any 8700M GT users, I'd like to hear about their experience with their M15x systems. Especially if they've had their since the notebook's launch.

Since I canceled my 8800M M15x order (just got to freaked out by some of the threads, mainly fex's and crizzler's experiences) I've been leaning towards getting an Dell M1530, but I figured if a M15x with a 8700M GT is more... 'safe', I might as well put in a few extra dollars to get the small jump in graphics.

So again it might have nothing to do with the graphics card, and maybe just build quality in general, but I'd like to hear about your experiences anyway.

the heat issues etc, you will probably not notice, but a crack is down the case and nothing else. wait another 3-5 weeks and get a Sager or a Centrino 2 with a 8800 gfx

well I can say I don't have any physical defects the 8700 handle pretty well but there is a noticeable difference in the 8700 and the 8800. The problem I'm having now is my CPU downclocking I think this has to do with the cpu and not anything. Everything else is ok for me. Just wish AW would give us some kind of answer.

You should not consider the m15x if you are worried about the issues, more and more seem to happen and AW is taking their time to fix it.
Smartest thing to do : wait for the M860TU from Clevo to be released, then COMPARE both 15 inchers and after that choose the best one.
The fact that the m15x is the only laptop with the 8800MGTX or 8700MGT card right now doesn`t make it a good one.
The 860TU is supose to have also the 9600M GT and the 9800M GTS,which may be better than the 8700MGT. And at a MUCH lower price.
    So bottom line, WAIT .

Ah, you can disregard this thread. Thanks for your inputs, but I've decided I'll be going with the XPS M1730. It's a bigger laptop then I'd opted for, but I as for longevity (the most important factor for me) it seems like one of the best options out there.

Hua, crazy to hear my thread influenced so many! o_0

Since you made your descision already its not necessary anymore but I'd like to add, the 8600 GT in the dell m1530 has slightly higher clockspeeds and uses DDR3 Ram what makes it perform almost like a 8700! So ordering a m15x without a 8800 would have been really... not smart :)

Just curious, what exact config did you order with your m1730? I think its a great system, very stable and nice features! If it weren't for the looks, size and the weight, I might have ordered one myself!
