    hey guys just a quick question, if i bought a m17x with 260gtx, could i upgrade it next time with ati 4870 or mayb 5000x in crossfire mode or it could only support nvidia's SLI.

    Yes it supports both nvidia and ati but right now only the 4870s are guaranteed to work.

    so if i wanted nvidia SLI i could just tell dell to send me the SLI cable ? and if i wanted ati crossfire i could just dell to send me the xfire cable ? does both cards fit in the slot ? just clearing out questions in my brain @@ .

    yes both cards fit and the cables are different. You would to buy an upgrade kit which would include the card, cable, heatsink and fan.

    can't help you there. I'm in the US and all I would do is call Dell spare parts in the US.

    Just so it's clear you can use either ATI or nVidia but both cards must be the same when going with a dual GPU solution.

    another quick question . if i got a m17x with core 2 duo and i wanted to do a aftermarket upgrade to core 2 quad extreme or core 2 duo extreme . is it possible ? will it fit in the m17x ?

    yes. Any Montevina based processor works. QX9300 and x9100 being the highest quad-core and dual-core solutions.

    We've been buying qx9300 from HP for $500USD. Check to see if they ship out by you. I know they're international.
