Well Im stuck at work; bored senseless, and not able to fiddle with my M17 like I'd like to, so am spending far too much time thinking about plans for it etc instead :p
After spending a while looking, I've dug up ZFactor's Bios for once I've got my X9100, but can anyone tell me if there is a good reason the 4850s wouldn't work in an M17 running the 0.28 OCZ modded BIOS, rather than the normal 3870 setup; BIOS support for example?

From previous experience I have a dislike of software overclocking, and would rather overclock from BIOS. I can't see a major reason why they shouldn't work; but Im not as familiar with laptops/MXM as I am with desktops, and I'd rather ask on the off chance anyone thinks it might cause issues.

Unless your new machine came with a bios never released before to support the 4850s which i dont think it did then you should have no issues at all.

What bios is Marshall running in his machine ?.

Probably the B14, like me; which is why Im a little worried they may have added support in the last BIOS :)
I figured its a small chance, but as laptops tend to be a little more ...awkward, I thought I'd just ask.

The M17/Whitebook seems to be one of those machines that supports just about any card you want to put in it with out the need for it to be added to the bios . So i would say go for it as your missing out on way to much with there skimpy bios :).

The .27 works great with the 4850's. Just oc'd to 3.3 and it definitly helps the cards
