Ok so I'm playing WOW on my 2 day old M17x quad core 9000, 2 260's 4 g ram, and I start hearing this beep from the left side of the laptop.... my own research shows that this is a cpu overheating issue??? Is that correct? It does not seem to effect the game play just annoying as hell. Is this something serious, I can take it back to Bestbuy today and get my 2200 bucks back.
    Thanks in advance

Is it a beep, or a screeching sound? the nVidia GPUs screech from time to time.

It almost definetely is NOT an overheating issue. The cooling on the M17x is incredible. If you want to be sure, download 'HWMonitor' (for free, search it on google), run it, and leave it in the background while you play WoW. After half an hour or an hour, exit WoW and check the maximum temps you hit in HWMonitor on the right hand side.

When you say 'beep', do you mean such as an 'error sound' beep, like the type you might get from a car if you leave a door open? Or is it more mechanical in nature, not like a speaker sound so to speak?

EvilCorsair is right it's most likely a GPU sound. I was worried too initially, but got used to it. Nothing to worry about though. Nvidia GPUs are noisy beasts, they pulse, vibrate, screech etc... I'm sure the sound you're hearing is as if someone is scratching a glass, just more metallic in nature and quiet. That's ok.
