    Hi guys,
My M17 arrived just a few days ago. And the decision to buy it was was quite influenced by this forum,
so thanks everyone for your helpful information!
I also want to do a ram upgrade myself.
I am looking at this ram modules: (german link because I am from Germany)

    http://www.alternate.de/html/produc...RE&l1=Arbeitsspeicher&l2=DDR3&l3=SO-DIMM+DDR3

But somewhere I read that the ram modules have to be certified by Alienware,
    so warrenty isn't lost.

Is that true, and if so, is this module certified?

Hope someone knows the answer :)

that certification means nothing. PC hardware is all standardised nowadays anyway. that link you provided should work just fine.

Before upgrading RAM I would call alienware customer support and let them know you're changing it. The rep I talked to said as long as the RAM specs match, there wouldn't be a problem. I upgraded my RAM and nothing bad happened (I just let the rep know so he could make note of it, and to double check that it wouldn't void my warranty, which it doesn't).

or just save the old ram, and if a problem should occur put them back in. no sense in selling them of throwing them away
