I just got a Razer Orochi, and I've noticed that any time I set it on the lower right corner of my M11x, over the HDD, the screen turns off and a few moments later the notebook goes to sleep. If I pull it away quickly when the screen first turns off, it turns right back on as if nothing happened. This happens in wired and bluetooth mode, and even continues when the mouse is off. The only time it doesn't happen is when the batteries are removed.

I can't figure out what's causing this. Has anyone else had similar issues?

I have an Orochi on my m11x and do not have that problem. you should check out razers website they have a firmware updater for the mouse you might wanna make sure that is up to date.

Also I know that the lower right hand corner of the screen is normally to make windows 7 show the desktop hopefully you don't have some kind of weird software bug.

    Hope that helps.

just what i was thinking. try disabling that corner desktop show thing, see if it still happens.

happy with my mouse - nice short cable. just hate bluetooth mode goes to sleep way too quickly.

Ya, it sounds like either a bug or that you somehow changed the behavior of the Show Desktop thing in the bottom right hand cornor.

It happens when I physically set the mouse on the lower right corner of the notebook, below the keyboard and to the right of the touchpad, not when I move the cursor to the lower right corner of the screen.

I've updated the firmware, no change.

I recommend you just don't set it there then! Its not like there is enough space there to use the mouse.

Normally I wouldn't, but I'm stuck in a Goodyear for the next few eternities and don't have a decent surface to use it on.

Sometimes it doesn't do it right away. I had to move it around the area for about fifteen seconds earlier to demonstrate it to someone.

After further testing, it turns out it happens even when the batteries are removed.

    Here's a video.

I'm going to have Amazon replace it. Hopefully the new mouse doesn't do the same thing.

EDIT: It just occurred to me, could the problem be the magnets that hold the top of the mouse down? Maybe they're too strong and interfere with the HDD. Phil, you wouldn't happen to have an SSD, would you?

Ya, just tried it out. My M11x and Orochi don't do it. Which I guess is a relief for me. :D

Wow, haha, that is just crazy. Maybe it has to do something with a magnet as said. Or just maybe you have the evilist mouse in the whole world!

Ahh, that makes sense. Why doesn't the same thing happen for everyone here, though?

EDIT: Replacement mouse does the same thing, which isn't really a surprise now that I know what's causing it. Still not sure why others don't have this issue, though. Even if you don't have the notebook set to go to sleep when the lid closes, the screen will still turn off.
