I'm disappointed that there's no SmartBay or ATI cards but it fits my spec, dimension and price requirements.
I'm not too fond of the peak on top of the screen but that's no reason not to buy this thing. -
Yeah I was hoping for a SmartBay aswell but I guess you can't have it all. Still, I thought that it would start out at $2000 so that's good news atleast.
-
Damn. I lose. M17x refresh. Damn.
You may have won the battle Moo, but not the WaR!!
Now, why does thing thing look glossy? This better come with matte finish. I like it. Looks elegant. My first thought would be: Those are some reinforced hinges... he he
Oh, and I wanted a 3rd HD spot. -
"I read somewhere that you can swap the battery for another hard drive when on power?! So maybe the smartbay is gonna be included in some fashion." - update - I should have read more carefully, you have to remove the battery to access the hard drives, so no smartbay option.
Personally I think it looks pretty damn cool, especially with the red illumination on black. I might just have to bundle up 2 or 3 laptops and sell them all at once and get this baby! -
i will be purchasing as soon as my m17 sells
-
-
Hmmm... I have to admit, my first thought was that now maybe I'm glad I grabbed my M17 - i think I like the style better. Though that is very distinctive, and I'm sure that's what they were going for.
Styling sort of reminds me of the of the Cadillac XLR sport coupes, for some reason... which, again, is not really a bad thing!
So, not saying I don't like the looks, just happy with mine. I'm sure when I see the performance specs on these things I'll be jealous, though! -
Thanks Moo. =p Looks pretty nice to me, but as already said - disappointed about lack of skullcap and what looks to be a glossy, over matte, finish. Maybe they'll still be available though, guess we won't know until Monday/Tuesday.
-
<strike>i think its matte ... it has a gloss on the lid but i think the palm rest and other areas will be matte (other then the lid)</strike>
it looks to be <blink>ALL</blink> matte -
Hmmmm I think we need more pictures
Enjoy,
Gabe -
Well Hello there... thanx for stopping by!
Me likey now. -
OMG thank you
its HUGE -
Gavez, where did you get those from, or do you have one in your possession? If it's yours, gief picture of lid. =p Thanks btw, + rep. Also, Moo, can you edit and maintain this thread to constantly show initial first looks, from various websites? Be nice if it was all easy to find in one thread. I can imagine you'd be the best guy to constantly update too. =)
-
Interesting what they did with the touchkeys. Thats a clear departure from the original M17x.
-
That's a gloss finish, right? Really hope the release has a matte finish as an option.
-
-
that is a matte finish all the way
GabeZ
was at a party for AW .... those are in his personal album in photobucket....
he has a insider or those are his -
They are all over the internet now. Google me -
I think Gabe works in Costa Rica. They have had the rig for a while now...
And yeah there is a zest of m15x influence. -
the m15x refresh is going to happen then
its called dellware style -
TurbodTalon Notebook Virtuoso
Do we officially know what's under the hood though? I'm not jumping ship unless this thing scores 20K+ 3D Marks off the shelf. We'll see.
-
yes we know
SLI 280m gtx
montevina
it will not score 20k off the shelf because Nvidias GPU like games not 3dmark 06 like ATI -
-
So let's see, basically the new M17x comes with new configurations of dual video cards and Quad CPUs....A little disappointing coz Whitebooks should be able to do the job as well...@_@ I will get a Whitebook today and see how it turns out.
-
buy mine buy mine !!!!!!!!! its still cheaper then a new whitebook
-
-
And seriously, it looks quite bulky...
-
Thanks for the pics GabeZ. Looks much sexier in person though that screen glare is pretty harsh (and the peak still sucks).
What I really need to know when it comes to my purchase time though is if there's BIOS overclocking. Will determine which CPU I chose. -
more then likely it wont and me n u need to find the PLL on there
that screen glare is there because there is a cover on the screen thay all ship with it -
-
-
yup and smaller to
i'm 6'6 so the size is no problemits like a 15 inch to me
-
Sorry I should have known your sale a little earlier...
-
-
That keyboard layout is great though. Clevo should take note on how to build a numpad. ;þ
-
yes i agree
-
The "peak" on top looks much worse in the new pictures. It's a bit disappointing.
-
Works well in darker rooms but that's no good for your eyes. -
I would still think there has to be some advantage otherwise why would they do it? Anyone here have an edge to edge LCD on their current Dell?
-
Studio XPS uses them. It's a layer of plastic that makes colors look brighter in low light areas but in sunlight or a well lit room they're very reflective.
-
It improves contrast, and has a cleaner look because the display is held in by a single plastic lens instead of a bezel. But it is also high glare.
-
Makes sense. I thought maybe you guys would say it's cheaper to build.
