Have you spoke to Shean, He helped me sort out my delays etc.

It's a bummer that you've got to wait for the extra to clear, maybe a PM to James wiouldn't hurt?

    Good luck

I'm wondering why you went for the m17x, because the m15x has all of that except the HUGE size...

Whoot whaat! Phase 4 you say?
    Well hellz yeah!
I'm stunned, they obviously work on Saturdays ^_¨

    On topic (!):
I mainly chose the m17x, since I read alot about flimsy build quality and cracking hinges on the m15x, and I have a weakness for matte black ^_¨
I also like to be able to say my laptop has more video cards than someone else his desktop =)

Don't worry, it's perfectly normal for this to happen.

Apparently when you go from phase 4 to phase 5, you go back to phase 3 so that the system can check it has everything, money, parts etc.

You should get an email soon telling you you've moved into production soon... give it a couple of days and if you've not recieved an email ring CS to chase it up...

Apart from that I know how much the waiting is really, really annoying...

Just hang in there and your waiting will be over soon... and then you get your new baby (",)

    congratulations cinek2

the m15x came with a document on the desktop called my alienware. in there should be all the scores that aw done before shipping.
mine was 10,108 as far as i can remember and when i ran 3Dmark06 for the first time i got 9698
once you start loading programs on to your syste the scores do drop .

clikety click here and go to download at the top of the page. the second one down is the basic free version. run that and tell us what score you get.

Only if you ticked it when ordering, it costs extra I think...

You should have a recovery partition (when booting the option appears F10)

    What spec do you have?

Oh, Don;t forget to fill in DJ's m17x survey once you're "settled in"

Oh, the Alienware 176.10 drivers work well, you'll get better performance. They are on the Hive, use your account number from your invoice to register an acount, go to downloads and look for Nvidia... (",)

Everything seemed fine except for two things :

-No sound on the right speaker
-keyboard flex under the i-o-p-k-l buttons, and everytime I strike one of those, I get a deep "bomp" sound =<

    Anyone else having this issue?

    Greets,
    Bed!

    //EDIT:
Sound on the right works after updates =)
Offcourse updates don't fix keyboard flex/bombing sound :<

Eh, how many hard drives do you have in your m17x?

In mine I have 2 x 250GB drives, i'm wondering if the noise your hearing, assuming everything works ok, could be the echo from the empty slot because, that's where they sit normally?

    Just my 2p...

    Yes, I only have 1 HDD =<
Any chance of stuffing it with something?
To atleast take away the "bomp" sound?
Since that annoys me more than the flex arround the right of the keyboard.

You could just aquire another spare HDD (",)

Other that how about carefully removing the keyboard (the guides in the care & maintenance guide in my sig.) and maybe putting some stiff cardboard underneath the keyboard to act as support and soundproofing it?

I'm not sure filling the hole with something might be a fire risk due to heat and block airflow. The Hdd has space around it when it's fittted...

    Just an idea?

    congratulations Bedeone

i got an original disc with mine and didnt pay anything for it. i also paid £25 for the respawn disc. someone else said they didnt receive one a while back and im sure he said he was told by CS that they were out of stock and would send one later. give them a ring just in case.

i wonder if your keyboard is sitting properly so it makes that noise. there is a thread on here that shows you how to remove it to check whats underneath but it could take ages to find it. anyone help out with a link.

now go and enjoy your beast :D

edit. just seen OBs last post. told you it was there somewhere and its in his sig :)

OB, thank you for your input

    But,
after checking the link concerning HDD's in the m17x, that you kindly provided in your (very nicely put together) Care & Maintenance guide, I noticed that the HDD space is not located underneath the region of the keyboard I'm having trouble with =S

As you might see, the HD's are placed near the edge of the system, while I'm having the flex / "bomp"-sound arround the middle of the keyboard, left to the enter key... (which seems to be above the memory / slightly up of the subwoofer) =S
So basicly, I'm doubting if it's an empty HDD tray causing my bomp =S

If it really bugs me, I'll contact CS about it, but right now, it's getting less irritating by the minute really.

    Greets,
    Bed!

Oh... Sorry mate, I though it might be an echo or something... :(

So is playing with your m17x, easing your iritations? ;)

I must admit I really like having a full-size keyboard, it's much easier to type on, especially as I use a full size keyboard at work ha ha ha all the keys are in the right place :)

Glad to hear you're enjoying it anyway

EDIT: okay, just spoke to CS they said that I won't actually get the original windows cd because that's on the system, and that's why I got the recovery cd.......

    EDIT2:

i was told that they don't sell smartbay batteries for m17x... is that true? :O

"Regarding your inquiry, I must inform you that we do not offer smart bay batteries for the Area-51 m17x model."
