I finally recieved my m15x and was happy to see most of the reported problems here do not seem to be present on mine, but I still have a problem, the speakers are very crackly at all volumes. Haven't tried any games yet though, installing at the moment. I want to wait till I test everything before calling alienware.

Should I remove my password on my user account before sending it back?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi jordon
it might be better if you posted this HERE as another thread has already been posted about speakers today.

Someone mentioned in a similar topic about possible loose connections and to try pressing down on the speaker lightly, it does work, when I press down the crackling goes away. Has anyone fixed this themselves? does it void warranty?

Edit: sorry I noticed the other one right after posting, but I wanted to know more about my other questions about the ram and password as well though.

Sorry didn't fix my speakers I meant my other questions about sending it back to alienware. But for me pressing down on the speakers lightly gets rid of the problem, but it returns as soon as I let go. So it probably is a loose connection. Does that work for you as well?

yes Im the one who mentioned that. Hmmm it seems that there is a loose connection seeing as how pushing down worked.

i may try looking at the connection as well, but i'm thinking it's just how the speakers sound on the m15x. lots of distortion between mid and high volumes.

Mine sounds fine - not very loud, but no crackling or distortion even at max volume.

i think AW does their check just like dell. dell uses machines to check the system and make sure everything is inside and functional.

Well... maybe you guys should consider that the M15x speakers are simply... bad.

Hopefully my Soundblaster X-Fi Extreme Audio external sound card will jazz things up a bit if I get the same issues.

But you are, maybe only subconciously, comparing it to the screechiness; they may not be so great when it really comes down to quality... but what do I know.

have u used laptop speakers before?.. the pressing down on the having a effect on the quality of sound seems abit odd but... but really if your going to spend that sort of money on a nice gaming laptop u should really get some nice mounted speaker and high quality headphones for the road... any laptop speaker is not going to do the games u are playing on it justice and it seems alienware realize this by putting in small compact speakers rather than a more impressive set up like in a media laptop like the MBP.

and playing games (off the wall/outside of your room) with out headphones is just dam RUDE!

in my opinion laptop speakers are only good for a quick you tube video or two, and maybe if you decide to play a song once every 30 minutes. if you need sound more often you should definitely get some real speakers or head phones.

Now wait, I have a good set of speakers that I've been using. But why should I have to deal with speakers that have something wrong with them? I mean I only payed over $3000 for a laptop, I mean I expect perfection, lol. Also when I'm walking around college and going different places I'm not going to carry my speakers around with me....that defeats the point of portability. Basically I just want my speakers fixed...I mean damn, lol :)

Same here daedric! Also if it is only a loose connection it could be fedex's fault, when the guy delivered it to me he was kinda rough with it, I yelled at him when he was tilting the box around roughly trying to get his thing to scan the bar code right.

Some people come here and say that webcam, speakers, heating, etc... should all be disregarded. For some people, the m15x should only have the GPU and game... Why don't these people buy a game console then?
That's really silly, but hey... who am I to tell? You paid a large ammount of money but disregard everything, just as long as you can play... and you are lucky your GPU doesn't fry.

Exactly, If I payed For a laptop($3000) I want everything on the laptop to work. For $3000 I could of bought all the gaming systems out there with a ton of games, lol. If people want to disregard the defects on their laptop and not have them fixed well...then...sure have at it, but i'm getting it fixed regardless.

The problem with PCs is that they will always be a bit awkward and sensitive. The only way I can describe a PC is a person with IBS. No matter what you put into it, something will upset its stomach.

any chance you can post audio from your speakers by recording through your mic? I just got my m15x and the speakers are the worst I've ever seen in a laptop. They sound very hollow. I'm not sure if this is just how they are, or if there is something wrong with mine as well.
