I am just not pleased with this m15x i just recently got it and i don't know but i just don't feel satisfied anyone know how the refunding process goes? Cause i just emailed them and im waiting for a response? Do they just respond with their address to ship it back and once they get it i can get my money back? Cause i also looked into sagers and i could be saving 1000$ with better specs...
-
not pleased cause you looked into clevo and found you could save 1k in monies? or do you have more then buyers remorse?
-
Keep in mind you'll probably have to fork over 15% for the restocking fee + all shipping costs.
Check out their return policy here

Hi,
I think you made a good purchase iShift. Keep in mind that technology moves rather fast, and there's no possible way you can always been on top. Aside from the very impressive specs of the Sager/Clevo, we have yet to see just how stable it really is. I think that putting a 9800 inside a 15 inch chasis spells danger. However, if it turns out to be best thing to grace the world of laptops, Alienware will be right behind in development.

I realise that it's probably based on the same technology, but there should be some enhancements. I haven't researched to find out.
Gabe -
You are not pleased because there are faster units available for a cheaper price?
You may have to pay the 15% restocking fee as emporiumboutique said. Did your m15x have any of the issues most users have had in this forum? -
i have the chassis squeaking and some underclocking already from the GPU and CPU it was kinda weird :\
-
there have been several good reviews and very happy people that have purchased the 15.
as far as the sager - it has yet to be tested in RL under RL situations. has only one fan for all interior heating.
as far as the gpu - yes it is on par with the 8800gtx as posted by paladin on the sager forums, but then again, save a few bucks and go with the older 8 series if the performance is the same.... -
-
As for the sager model, the cooling system will probably work better than the alienware, it might have just one fan, but its also larger than the two alienware fans combined. The heat sink's used are much better than the alienware model also. The alienware model just has a flat heatsink ontop of it, the sager graphics card is completely encased in copper and the cpu and gpu heatsink are not connected, so one component wont run hotter because of the other like the m9750 does. -
well bad on sager then
....less options for the consumer.
if AW did offer it as an option, they may be able to pull more market by selling it in the 15 at a reduced price but with on par performance, thus reducing the $$ of the 15 and then becoming more affordable to lower end users....
just a though - doubtful, but hey.... -
-
i am just saying they may have issues as yet to be determined by real life applications and usage.
i have looked at the sager, but there are some things the AW offers that is just heads above the rest and while AW is not with the up-to-date tech in the 15 or 17, it seems as if sager and clevo have missed aspects of the market as well.
this is why there are more then a few places to get the things you want.
i am actually waiting to see what the new reviews of the sager will be like before i lament the pros and cons any further, as pure specualtion leads to false information.
remember - in every aspect of production, regardless of the product or comapny, there has and will always be, lemons within.
what the producer or maker of the product does to fix the issue(s) or revamp the item, is what determines the success or failure of the product line.
also to add - how the consumer acts or reacts to CS, and or any persons they come in contact with also has an impact with the overall process.
truth be told - the customer is NOT always right.... -

One thing to note...:
The m15x is 1.3" thick all the way through. The Sager is 1.45"-1.95" thick, which means it's mostly around 1.7"-1.95". That's a huge difference in terms of portability, but the Sager probably won't have any overheating problems. Just putting it out there. -
-
when you say you just recently got it does that mean it was less than 14 days ago. if so you can cancel for a refund but if it was over 14 days then your stuffed. the only option you then have is if there is a fault with it. you will then have to send it back for repair and then after the repair if you still have a problem then the 14 days refund policy starts again. also as mentioned i think if you outside europe youve also got the 15% restocking fee. -

Dude, you've had it for two days. Give it a little more time. Most of us always get a little buyer's remorse when we buy something expensive or we replace something else that we're used to using.
Here's a list of things that I sort of thought why the **** did I just buy that?:
My monitor. I was used to using a CRT for four years, so it can be heard at first to adjust.
My Razer Lachesis mouse. At first I couldn't get used to its' shape, but after awhile I'm glad that I did.
My iPhone 3G. I know... 3G speeds: FTW GPS: FTW Better screen: FTW After selling my first iPhone on eBay, I was kind of sad to see that go, but it's great now.
My desktop. The main reason I had some buyer's remorse from this, and with all of the other stuff, and probably your reason, too: Even though I did a lot of research and read a lot before buying it, looked and priced the competition, etc. Once it's here, that's it. This is what you're stuck with using for the next few years. If you originally looked around and wanted it, once you get used to it, you'll know it was a great purchase.
At least I know I always do. Just my $.02... -

I agree with ryujin, you should be prepared to take the restock fee.
-
Yup. If you're just returning the machine because you don't like it, you'll be paying a restocking fee.
After the refund is approved, you'll be sent an RMA, and you'll be hooked up with Fedex to print off your shipping label and set up a pickup date.
That's where I'm at right with my refund right now, and I'll be posting status updates over here. -
Always hilarious to see people that has no idea what they are talking about, but have read this forum and jumped on the "flame AW bandwagon" come and "preach" about how awful the m15x with incorrect information. -
So, even if it's not ALL the M15x, quite a few do this.
I think your frustration with that post, can only be comparable with post of people that say that AW fixed all the problems and nothing is wrong with the M15x anymore. To every side of the faction, you have the other side.
@iShift- If you have no problem with the M15x, you should really consider keeping it. Or if you really want to send it back, make sure you find plenty of problems with it so that AW offers you for a full refund.
Monitor your temperatures, check for screen wobbliness (which can, for some sensitive people, be a killer), check whether your security lock works. I am sure you will be able to untap plenty of problems that will justify you getting a refund.
If you can't... I would just be happy with it as you will avoid paying 15% restocking fee (bless Europe for much better consumer laws). -

Come on whizzo, don't offend my inteligence. Go and look for Groove's reports and Lineazy alike (two that come to the top of my head).
So please, avoid calling me a liar as I do take that as a very serious offense.
Thanks -
well, sorry to prove u wrong here milcs, but he said "stable units" and that is not the units with defective GPUs. Mine is stable and does not go over 88, everyone else with stable units (not defective GPUs) have reported the same after new BIOS. Fact is a fact, sure lineazy and groove may go over, but maybe they have defective GPU or some other special circumstances. 2 cases does not give people the factual support to say that stable units all hover in the high 90s. In that case, I could claim that AW has fixed all the m15x cause me and whizzo have no problems. Just get a hold of yourself milcs, now you are just out here to create an argument.
And yes, my frustration can be compared to the frustration people feel when people said before AW has "fixed all problems and come out with a new case". -
Honestly guys, you have to chill out. This post is about someone who is thinking on getting a refund. Not about discussing whether or not the M15x overheats or does not overheat.
More... it was never my intention to create an argument. You commented harshly on bwhxeon's post and said he was conveying wrong information. I just wanted you to be aware that wrong or right information is not as linear as you are trying to suggest.
So, if you would have said "My M15x is stable and is under 90ºC." that would be one thing. Comming here and saying he is lieing, is another completely different matter.
Alas... let's carry on trying to help the OP and not getting into pointless arguments. -
Also this is an expensive machine and who knows what adverse affects the 90-100 degree GPU temps will have on the machine in the long run in a tight compressed space.
-
unless us in europe run on totally different rules and regulations from AW here are the facts.
when i first received my m15 it was faulty. fact.
i spent 2 hours with tech support within 2 hours of opening the box. fact.
unable to fix any of the problems and after all the appologies i was given a rma number to return it. as a show of good will i had my return/refund extended to 30 days. fact.
after just receiving it i didnt really want to send it back straight away as i had waited so long for it i thought i would give it a chance. after 19 days id had enough so rang up to return it for a refund.
i was told they had no record of my return policy being extended to 30 days and i could not return it for a refund but only return it for repair. fact.
i was told after i get it back i then have the 14 day refund policy starts again. fact.
after receiving it back from repair after a new motherboard and chassis change it still had problems. i rang up and asked for a refund the same day i received it. this was accepted and a refund rma number was given. fact.
so does this mean in america you have a 30 day refund policy but have a 15% restocking fee added.
we in europe have a 14 day cancelation policy with no restocking fee.
unless i was shafted by the cs agent i spoke to, this is fact. -
If you bought from the US AW site (alienware.com) you will to have pay the 15% restocking fee, even if you are under the 30 day limit (and even if you live in Europe)
If you bought from a EU AW site (alienware.de, etc) you have a 14 days return period, without needing to pay anything but shipment (even if you live in the USA). -
not trying to boast the hopes of the OP, but it states...
if you read it says MAY in there....does not mean you 100% will depending on the situation. remember (and this may sound rude) but customer attitude has a lot to do with overall handling of issues.
but as far as the OP goes, do not tell him to 'find' stuff wrong with it after he posted the truth behind his reasons for wanting to return it.
in his case, he has buyers remourse and should pay the 15% if he wants to return it. -
im in the uk and had no restocking fee and return p+p was paid for by AW.
as said above,if you are returning it because youve changed your mind and there are no major faults then be prepaired to pay the 15% restocking fee and postage.
Refunding..
