I was trying to remove the stickers on my new M14x using my finger nails, tried like a hundred times and I can't peel off the corners. I've read using a pair tweezers, non-abrasive putty knife, guitar pick, and even razor, could help, but I don't want to use any sharp object besides my nails.

And then I saw some post-its my 5yr old daughter was playing with and sticking into our tables, walls, etc., so I tried prying the edge of the sticker using the post-it, and voila! I was able to lift the corner with the first try.

Once the corner is lifted, you should be able to hold it, and slowly peel it. And if done correctly, you should still be able to use the sticker, say, at the bottom.

Since I got my m14x less than a week ago, there was no sticker residue left over after I removed the 2 stickers.

If you're removing the stickers and there's some sticker residue, this can be removed using a scotch tape or duck tape (stick the tape and residue should come off with the tape). Other's use WD-40, alcohol, peanut butter, but the tape should be the easiest and without mess.

There you go, I hope this helps everyone who wants to remove the stickers (sorry for the crappy iphone pics).

Great tip! Thanks for providing it. It's really tacky looking have those stickers on the palm rest of the new systems. Before the current generation of new Alienware laptops used to put those sticker on the bottom cover and I wish they still did. Having them on the palm rest reminds me of a cheap system like an HP or Acer.

Mine only has the Core i7 sticker, it's fine for me, but I'd rather they etched or printed them on the bottom.

But, this is the same as removing screen protectors using sticky tape, really.

    Peanut butter?!?!

I think I threw the stickers away after I took them off. I agree the stickers make the machine look cheap.

Thanks guys! I'm glad the simple post-it or paper can also help you.

I also can't believe peanut butter, maybe the oily properties of it help removing the residue, I don't know..

Removing a couple of stickers isn't going to void your warranty. In the rather unlikely event that maybe you damage the palmrest, that would be 'on you' but I highly doubt that anyone would damage their machine by removing stickers - unless you went at it with a chisel or something! :p

    never :)

read somewhere that the windows 7 oem sticker (& intel's too) should be left there, in case if you want to sent the system in to dell. sounded logical. thats why I asked.

So if you guys are 100% sure removing them isn't going to do any harm, Stickers, here I come..!!

I'd leave the Windows Certificate of Authentication on the bottom, as that's your product licence. As for the other stickers, what I would do is stick them on the underside of the machine. They are then out of sight.

Remove them, i moved my service tag, windows and intel stickers to under the battery just incase they peel or get damaged by sticking them on the bottom.

How did you get the Windows COA and service tag decals removed without damaging them? I believe both are designed to self-destruct when that is attempted. I wish they would have put them under the battery to begin with on the M18x R1. That was a smart place to begin placing them with the M18x R2.

It was really stupid to install decals on the palm rest. Besides being very unaesthetic, it reminds me of a crappy budget system to see them being stuck there.

I used several of the methods the OP mentioned to remove decals and stickers of all sorts of stuffs. Sometimes successful, other times not so mucha. Then I was taught the "professional" way to do it. My former employer used professional decalers for all the vehicles and equips. They all taught me the same method: you use a razor blade to remove stickers and decals.

You can get these at any hardware store for cheap. I was taught to hold the blade 30 degrees above parallel to the sticker's surface, and with minimal downward pressure, draw the blade towards the sticker in order to cut the underlying adhesive layer away from whatever it was attached to (vehicle door, laptop chassis, etc.). Once you catch an underlying corner and that decal's corner is 'cut' from the surface, you can pull up on that corner slightly whilst still moving forward with the blade to speed up the process. I've done this at least 100 times with vehicles and equipment without scratching any of them. I've done it with laptop decals probably a dozen times, two of which I removed the Windows COA and Service tag stickers without damaging them. Then I just reattached them with double sided tape. It takes practice, but I was taught the risk of scratching the underlying surface is minimal if you use a brand new blade since the cutting edge will be perfectly straight with no gouges or divots. Done properly, it will also not leave any adhesive residue behind. But that's just my two pence...

I just peeled them, no destruction of the stickers from what I saw, it lost maybe 10% of stickyness but it will still stick and the battery holds it in anyways. I just got paranoid that the bottom would just wear the stickers out eventually. I prefer the laptop looking bare too. The service tag was just a black plastic coated sticker I think.

I can see why someone thought removing stickers voids warranty because MSI is that way about their products. Though, I don't believe they refer to the Windows or Intel sticker. So, whoever was worried about voiding the warranty may be confusing 'seals' with 'stickers' on systems.

Yup, they are definitely a tacky-looking eye sore. I still find it hard to believe that Alienware started placing them on the palm rest instead of an inconspicuous location like they used to. My Clevo had ugly stickers on the palm rest as well. I used the same method to remove them. I expect to find this kind of garbage on cheap HP and Acer junkbooks from Walmart and Best Buy, but not expensive high end machines. I put these adware stickers in the same category as lick-n-stick tattoos from coin operated vending machines and jewelry found at the bottom of boxes of Cracker Jacks.

Well I removed mine from the palm rest of the R4 as soon I got mine, but it left an impression underneath, nil adhesive or anything just an impression that 2 stickers existed over the 2 spots :(

YES! Worked like a charm! Thanks for the tip. My Alienware 18 came with an Intel sticker on the palmrest and I didn't really care for it. The PostIt worked great and there was no residue.

That's an excellent idea, thanks. I just cleaned up my new Acer Chromebook 14. The blue Intel Inside sticker was tough to do with my fingernail but a Post It got under it just fine. Once a corner was up, I used a pair of tweezers to grip and pull it off completely. There was one small dot of glue residue but that rubbed off easily using a finger.
