    tell me peeps...for gaming etc, what resolution do you use? is highest always the bestest?

    btw yes my m17x has finally arrived..only 1.5weeks wait :)

    Usually things look best at the native resolution. If performance becomes an issue then you should lower it.

    I tend to use the highest I can run with reasonable graphical details; generally I prefer to opt for resolution over detail (as it reduces the need for AA etc), but it depends on the game...where possible I go for both :D
    1920x1200/1080 ftw :)

    Res isn't always the best way, because some games dont offer many options for graphics and massively jump between settings, so its all a case of compromise; but I'd rather take a small detail hit than a res one :) Hence I ran Crysis on my laptop at 1920x1200 DX9 High,over 1440/1680 DX10 Very High [still looks really good and runs pretty well] :)

    on your laptop screen, lower resolutions is fine. when it's hooked up to a HDTV, then you'll want to run it at the highest, otherwise it'll look like Nintendo graphics.
