    Did a search ... nada.

    Recieved my M11x R2 yesterday.

The external Dell DVD burner failed immediately so I was not able to create an immediate recovery disk.

I used another external USB burner I was able to borrow today after doing all the Windows and software updates.

It asks to create 3 DVD's, the first two create successfully and the third one craps out between 73 to 87% consistantly with a failure to write error.

I am new with Alienware and don't know the reputation of the apps.

Is this app considered "bloatware"? Can I delete it and work with the standard Win7 app?

I am trying out all the the AW apps before making a decision to purge this computer with a barebones custom install.

BTW, I will not be gaming much with this unit. I used to be a gamer until carpal tunnel and tennis elbow set in ... :(

I bought it to run a lot of VM's and figured the horsepower these little units have ought to handle the demands required by these applications.

Perhaps its your media? Have you tried different media? What about a USB Flash drive vs. optical media?

AlienRespawn (aka Dell DataSafe Local) is a handy app. Regardless if you remove it or not, the important thing here is to create that recovery source. This will preserve your 'out of box' state.

As for the Win7 built in backup - honestly, I've never used it.
