Hey everyone just as it sounds Dell wanted to come out and fix the GPU again and i told them no i said i know my rights i have withing 30 days of system if it is bad to get a replacment system and when i called them to find out how that was comming they told me that i was not getting one because i had the system for 22 days when i called in last and they only give you 21 days
wich is not what they told me and i record all my calls legaly because i i work in tele servies and have to record any call that i make from the office well to make a short story even shorter or is it a long story short lol
i told them not to come out and fix it i called dell return deparment and told them i know my rights are to return a system without getting a 15% restocking fee if the system was bad when i purchased it
and they said your right so they aproved the return of the system without a restocking fee so i will get a full refund
now i also found out today
that when i told a co worker i was going to get a new laptop he said cool you know if you get a Dell you get up to 12% off with your employee purchase program
so im debating i can pic up another M15x for for 1,573 with my employee discount before taxes
The one i am returning cost me 1503 before taxes and it only had the 512 gt 240 gpu in it
i can get for 1573 befor taxes and that will come with the I7-720 4 gigs of DDR-3 1333 a 250 gig hd a 1600x900 LCD a GTX 260m 1 gig and then all th eother standard specs they usualy come with

so should i get that or should i go with a base model M17x i don't have the money to max a M17x out like i would want

and i really want to keep the I7 i love the way my system runs so the only difrance would be the 1 gig 260m and it would only cost me like 50 dollars more then the one i am returning will cost
if you understand what im saying what do you think
should i get the M17x base model and then upgrade parts as i get more money
or should i get the M15x again

i don't even know why you get that with the gtx-240m is a low end gpu, if you can get one with the 260m you going to be surprised of the difference on performance and for your question the m15x is more future prof because it has i7 and dell may offer futures upgrades including gpu :)

I'll sell you my perfectly working system with the following specs for $2400:

i820 CPU, 15.6" 900P, 256GB Solid State Drive with TRIM firmware, GTX 260M, DVD burner, 4 GB DDR3 1333 MHz, Bluetooth, 2 years warranty + 2 years complete care.

It costs over $2700 new at Dell.com. The system has zero dead pixels, is 26 days old and in perfect condition. I'll be listing it in NBR marketplace in a few days.

Hey thumper, wait around for a few weeks till CES ends this januari. Lots of brands will release new models and hopefully dell will put a corei7 in their m17x. If you really want to be future proof you should definitly take sli graphics, there's litle point in buying an m17x otherwise.

im now debating on weather to get the one where i can use my employee discount or spend more because they just came out with another deal 1499 with the 1080 lcd and 6 gigs of 1333 but then i would have to spend 200 on the gtx260 it would come with a 50 dollars rebate i think but have to wait to get that in the mail and does anyone know do i have to use that for a purchase threw dell or do they just send a check for 50 dollars anyone know about that ? so that would cost me like 1750 before taxes
or i can get the one with the 1690 and the 260m gtx and 4 gigs of 1333 for 1509 after taxes with my employee discount
do i really need 6 gigs of ram and a 1080 lcd is it really worth an extra like 200 for those to items ?

i would go with the 1080 and the gtx 260 way better than the 240 4 gigs of ram at 1333 is goo enough maybe bump the processer to middle grade the 820

and joker, how come your getting rid of your system, throttling that bad? i ask cuz i'm getting a m15x and u seem more hardcore about computers than i am so i'm curious if theres anything besides the trottling that makes u dissatisfied with it.

M15x doesn't throttle anymore, I've got fixes in place for it that anyone can use. I'm selling it because I'll be getting the M17x i7 refresh that will be coming in a month or two.

thanks for those fixes, they good for the 920xm also? have one being built now. and just curious but do you think the ati cards coming for the m15x will be anygood, or should i just wait for the m17x refresh, i'm just afraid it will have issues too when it comes out. also anything you can tell me about the m15x like what you like stuff like that, and u getting the 17 cuz you want sli plus i7 right?

For 6GB of RAM. If you are about gaming only then 4GB is always more than enough for any games atm and I think at least in 1 year ahead. If you are about video editing too then you will benefit from 6GB of RAM.

For the 1200p screen, it's more about your personal taste since screen extremely high res does not really that matter for a 15". If you have good eyes and want extra desktop space, go for the 1200p. If your normal use does not require much desktop space and you can game on lower res (still quite high) then go for 900p since you will have bigger font => easy to read, better gaming performance and of course, cheaper.

Besides, games always look weird if you do not play them on native res so it would be better if you game at 1600x900 on a 900p screen than gaming at 1600x900 on a 1200p screen.

The GTX 260M is a must because you will see a huge different between it and the poor GTX 240M. It also costs you a lot more if you feel regret later and want to upgrade the graphic card from Dell.

I don't know about Dell's rebate but if it's a mail-in rebate then they will send you a check and you cannot use that 50 bucks to purchase from Dell.

If I were you I will put my hard earned money on the GTX 260M and forgo the extra 2GB of RAM. And I will go for the 900p too, the 1200p is already very small on my M17x.

    Thanks Guys for the help

Im gona do the 4 gigs but does it matter if i go with the 1066 or the 1333 will the 1333 really see a difance ?

im going i with the GTX 260M for sure the only reason i went with the 240 the first time was i thout it would be easier to find a 280m card that i could replace it with but did not have much luck at finding one so this time im gona go with the 260m for sure

i like the 900 lcd i have on this my eyes are not exactly perfect if you know what i mean

the other thing is if i went with the I7-820 will i really notice a difrance then i do with the i7-720 that i have now or is it not really worth it should i wait and save up the money to buy a 920 next summer or will somthing better come out by then is it really worth it

also does anyone know what all this my tech team or your tech team is when they offer the warranty
is it really worth getting or not really is it better to just stick with the standard one that it comes with ?
