All right guys, I have been patient long enough. Im returning my M15X, im going to try to push for the no 15% return fee. If not... screw it I want to get this problem dealt with once and for all. Ive had to send it in once because it wouldnt turn on turns out motherboard and graphic card fried. The it started overheating when i got it back and would shut down @ 93C. They sent a technician, he installed a new heat sync and fan. My system now just shuts down randomly when it gets around 55C. So i ALWAYS need to keep it in StealthMode.
Ive been patient long enough.
So... Any recomendations?! I would love it to be a 15 inch and I hears Sager is a pretty descent company? anything else with crazy capabilitiesor should I maybe hold off a little for the Santa Rosa etc..
Also im graphic design so was wondering if Quad grfx card would be better than the 8800 GTX. Any info appreciated ^^

Don't you mean Montevina? -
sorry ;X!

Hi Velacio
sorry to hear of the problems. im in the same boat as you. mine has also gone back for a refund. had motherboard replaced and new chassis and they couldnt even put my name plate on but gave me one for a company.
if you return it for repair and it comes back with faults then you have the 14 day return policy and you would then get the full refund (i think).
good luck -
There should be no reason that you wouldn't get your full amount if it never worked right. I would push long and hard to get that waived. sorry to hear about your machine
-
yeah, if they try to repair it and they don't fix the problem then you get the 15% fee waived (you would only have to pay if you wanted to return it without repairing, or if there weren't an actual issue). this is a very strange issue, I would have no idea what's causing it. maybe a mobo issue.
as for montevina, it's not a critical upgrade as it stands, but the potential for quadcore CPUs may interest you in the future (note that the first mobile quadcore though will be around $1000, so it may be a while off before it may be practical to you/anyone). As for needing an NVIDIA Quadro card (which is what I think you're referring to by "quad"), if you're doing graphic design, it probably won't make a difference. Quadro is designed more for CAD, not for photoshop-style graphic design. Also, GPU doesn't matter for photoshop at this point as it's still all CPU driven (yes CS4 will allow for GPU acceleration but I would expect the regular GeForce cards to be just fine with this) -
Yes, there's a CLevo M860tu( sager NP8660) is another 15 incher featuring the 8800M GTX card and will be launched mid July.

Another happy costumer... and they are so many. As eleron says... wait for the new clevo. Or read a bit about new external GPU solutions.

I am thinking of asking them to send me the name plate and I can engrave it my self.

-
just leave it blank, or just put a . to make them happy
-
if the period doesn't show up with an alien equivalent (of if it appears the same) then it may be your best bet. as I said, leaving it blank runs the risk of them engraving some weirdo order number on there

my returned system ended up with a nameplate for astec solutions ltd.
people have said to me to write to this company telling them that AW had sent a customer their chassis.
before i do anything i think ill wait for my full refund first. -

theres where your laptop should have gone. didnt you say that your laptop had scratches on it? i think what they did was gave you a referbished chassis that astec sent back to AW for unknown reasons. -
-
Horrible story mate. Scarier than Freddy Krugger and Jason put together. I always wanted to purchase an AW but I changed my mind. You are not the only one with problems. This board is full with AW complaints.

so is the dell forum, and the asus forum, and the acer forum, and the hp forum, and and and.

btw whizzo, what do you think of your machine? I know you got it ages ago, but I'm just so used to you being in the waiting/shipping mode. Have you returned yours or have you been able to love it? -
However, when paying 3K for a PREMIUM laptop, you except it to at least built properly, and that the CS reps dont treat you like retards. -
