Does anyone know if I received a faulty system and returned it for a replacement (within the 21 days), can I return tha replacement system for a full refund if there are still problems with it. And do the 21 days start over from the day I receive the replacement? Thank you.

Yes you can, that's what I had to do with the R1 I had. First one stopped posting on Day 2 and the replacement kept locking up all the time. They would not send me a 2nd replacement so I got a full refund and waited for the R2 and ordered again. They should go by the date of the replacement since its a new order and the original should have been returned. At least that's what they did for me.

I had this problem with the r-1. the system exchange took so long to build that it put me outside of the 21 days return policy.

I can tell you: no, your return policy does not reset when you receive your system replacement.

I had to go through upper management and wait a week for a "special cancellation" request to be approved.

in short: if it looks like the system exchange is going to put you outside of the 21 days, you better call in and cancel your order for a full refund (if canceling and getting a refund is what you intent).

no, they don't. its not a new order, its a system exchange. it has its own order number, yes, but its linked to the original order date of your system. the poster is wondering what happens when the time to build your system exchange puts you outside of the 21 days from your original date, will you still be able to return it?

the short answer is no, and the long answer is maybe. because you need to get approval.

I was at 24 days when I returned my replacement if they did go from the original ship date. And the sales support rep who placed it told me that the 21 days started again from the new order ship date since I asked. That's outsourced support for you. At any rate escalations should get involved if the replacement is bad like what happened with me. Be firm but polite and it shouldn't be a problem. Then again he said he would refund mine after I demanded a 3rd replacement, might want to try that.

All that aside if the replacement is also bad and they do pull the 21 days and you get nowhere, file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office. That will take care of it.

    Thank you for the responses.
I'll keep and eye on my original 21 day return period just in case and if the replacament hasn't shipped by then I might cancel and reorder.

    1) you suppose to ask for extension when getting a replacement. They will give 30 days from the original invoice date. I had that done.

    2) Make sure you tell the rep to send you an e-mail confirming the extension of the return period.

    Its simple. Just ask.

Dell will do almost anything to keep you from getting a refund...keep that in mind when dealing with them
