I did an earlier poll, but realized I should have managed it differently, so here it is. It's multiple choice, so choose each component that you ordered.

Hopefully this will be a little more clear.

Although no one is posting, it appears those who have voted have similiar taste. Actually good taste, since they all got the same config I got ;) Specs in sig.

I haven't and likely won't get one, but I put the spec's in that I would get it with if I did.

Two of my choices seem controversial to what everyone else picked. SU4100 because it's exactly the same as the SU7300 just with 1MB less cache and so not worth the money, and 2GB of RAM because, well, I'm used to 2GB now and really don't need more.

With Windows 7 more RAM = better performance. Most newer games will easily consume more than 2GB RAM.

I agree. When I first heard they were starting at $999, I didn't even bother trying to look because I figured decently equipped was going to be $1300-$1400. Thank goodness for the initial discounts, at $836 with SU7300, 4GB RAM, 320GB HDD, Win7 x64 Home Premium, I couldn't pass it up.

Uhm, what do you mean, yeah, right? It's DDR3 clocked at 1066MHz. DDR2 is typically 800MHz.

    It's actually clocked at 800.

When you go into the BIOS to OC the cpu then it will be at 1066.

And yet I'm playing some of the latest games without a single problem. ;)

Most mentionable are the likes of Batman Arkham Asylum, Left 4 Dead 2, Dragon Age: Origins...

All of them play fine on my 2GB in my M17, running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. Only side effect seems to be after the more ram-intensive games, I sometimes have to wait about half a minute after my game has finished before I can start using my system properly.

There won't be any "problem" just your system will be a lot more responsive, especially an improvement with some games, even Battlefield 2 as old as it is, runs quite better with 3 or 4GB in your system than 2.

I just think for $50 it's one of the cheapest upgrades offering the most benefit. It's like paying an extra $50 for the better set of tires on your car that offers improved acceleration and handling. No problem with the current tires, you'll just get overall better performance in many cases.

Agreed! Games like MW or AC or Crysis eat a lot more than 2GB RAM. You will get Low Memory alert everytime you play those games.

And I dont want to be in this scenario: Start the game, go to bathroom have my hair shaved, go back after ten minutes and still see the game level is still in loading stage :D

.... especially with the weaker cpu you want to remove as many bottlenecks as possible. 4GB is a no-brainer, its cheap and will unleash your little NOTEbook (not netbook.)

I got my config for 650£ - Win 7 Pro, all specs below except 2GB Ram and 160GB 5400 RPM hard drive. No WWAN, 2 years warranty with accident damage.

I don't care if I could have got an m15x, this is your line of thinking. I wanted an 11.6" NOTEBOOOK (read: notebook C2D) I like the portability of the M11x as opposed to the 15x is more portable, no matter how you size it up, PUN!
You usually buy what you want RIGHT? So I made the purchase of what I like and want, not what I could have had, if I wanted a 15x I would have bought one, obviously I didn't. I could still buy one and if I wanted a 17x also.
The thing is, this is a niche product, and this is EXACTLY what I was looking for.

A lot of people getting black, hmmm.

    Do they know something I don't? :p

Actually, I've got a silver theme going, m15x, desktop, and now m11x. I couldn't of gone black even if I wanted to.

Good job on poll, +Rep :)

There's lots of speculation going on about the silver color. I prefer black, personally. It doesn't stand out like a sore thumb (usually).

Thats why I perfer black too. More subtle. It's whats inside that matters. I've never been one who likes to attract attention. Hence all my laptops are black.

And that's the reason I've avoided Alienware in the past. Don't care for all the flash. I like the subtle but classic look of my Sager. But for the specs and price of the M11x couldn't pass it up.

Either Intel won the marketing battle of the SU7300 over SU4100 or the SU7300 really makes a difference. I'll be curious to see performance comparison between SU7300 and SU4100 with real-world gaming. We'll probably see a lot of miffed people. LOL.

2GB will be fine. Just save up for 4GB RAM later to update, and sell your 2GB to offset some of the cost.

My config has the Lunar Shadow and SSD that doesn't follow the trend =) I opted away from black b/c of fingerprints and I had faith that it would be a darker "smokey gray" rather than bright silver. Glad to see this seems to be the case. w000t

Yeah, that silver does look quite nice. I was expecting the brighter silver which I really hate. Either way, I always opt for black, unless it's not offered.

I chose the SU7300 for virtualization. Is it worth the $100 if you don't run virtual machines? Probably not, but I can't blame people for upgrading - we all know the CPU is the weak point on the system, might as well take all the help you can get with it so long as it doesn't break your budget.

Got silver, which I'm also surprised about. Based on all the discussion about silver I figured more people had bought it.

The other unusual one for me is the 160GB hard drive. This is because I'm replacing it with an SSD the day I get it (that was some good foresight to include that option, btw). :)

I'm going to get/have gotten some accessories too (USB DVD burner, Bluetooth mouse, Pelican case), but these were all purchased separately so I didn't check that option (should I have?).

No, more curious if you ordered it through Dell. I think many people have USB DVD's, etc. But curious how much people actually buy the accessories from Dell.

I got one in lunar and one in cosmic black. Lunar is the wife's, i wanted to be able to tell them apart without opening them up so I chose black. I'm just hoping that it ends up not being too bad with fingerprints on the production model.
