The great question for every Alienware consumer.

I'm leaning towards Ripley, I don't want the stares from people for the skullcap look when I'm at college.

You're buying an Alienware, but you don't want people to look?

lol, I wish I had a dollar for every time this question was asked.

It's really just a matter of personal preference. There is no difference in quality.

If you prefer your laptop to be flashier, go with the skullcap.
The Ripley is sleeker and more appropriate for a professional atmosphere and probably doesn't scream "STEAL ME" as much.

the ripley is not as loud as the skullcap, but the alienhead, lighting, etc. will still turn heads!!!

    Hi,
I actually prefer the skull cap. Someone once told me, "If you're going to make a mistake, make a big one." If you're going purchase an alien machine, it might as well look alien. If they're going to stare anyway, give them something to stare at. lol

I prefer the Ripley design just because it looks like it means real business--in an elegant, stylish sort of way. Kinda like the James Bond of the laptop designs: suave on the outside, full-blown bad-a$$ on the inside.

The skullcap DOES look awesome. Although, I think the skullcap is one of those rare things which would be more fun for me to want than to actually have.

:GEEK: Just my personal preference. :GEEK:

dude, the laptop screams steal regardless of the case design. You have a glowing alien head and a lightbar around your lcd as well as a light up keyboard and a very distinctive looking pc. If you are in class, people will notice regardless. I went for the skullcap because it looks crazy.

    LEAVE RIPLEY TO ME!

Bad Bond joke aside, I also prefer the Ripley. I find it's a more stylish look and it suits both working in an office and gaming. But of course, complete matter of choice.

I'd go skullcap. I'm a "grown up" professional and hell I don't care if it looks flashy. In reality, the skullcap design is the traditional AW design that's been present on the majority of their desktop and notebooks so why not go old school? The Ripley does look nice and with clean and elegent corners but a little plain jane for my taste. It's not a huge deal though. I'd be more than satisfied with either.

i like the ripley way better than the skull cap. the skull cap doesnt look as clean and nice as the ripley. ripley also doesnt make the laptop look like a steal me laptop as much as the skullcap. the skullcap is basically screaming for you to look at it.

I prefer the sleek style of the Ripley design. I also use my m15x at work so that sleek look also helps it to look more on the professional side, even though i've had some people already start at it during meetings :)

    'NDA' ?
Actually I'd like to also see the matte Black Ripley in photos (other than the ones from the Alienware website rendering)..
Though, even pics wouldn't do it justice :D

Ripley looks more sleek and elegant, I prefer that sort of thing. It's the lights that grabbed me about the m15x, not the chassis style.

I find the Skullcap seems a bit, how do I put this... well stereotypical geeky sort of laptop. I just feel like people will see a Skullcap and just imagine it's got Star Trek or DnD playing, whereas anybody can use a Ripley and just style it up. :p

    Ripley.

I'm just going to put an awesome skin on it. Who needs a skullcap when you can have psychedelic pink and purple butterflies?

Psh, ribs I say. I have ribs, why does my laptop need them? :(

Ripley is the way forward IMO. But I would have preferred a matte black ripley
