my Alienware Aurora m9700 is doing the same thing that SPAZ's was, except i did not mess with the processor! my power button and touchpad light will turn on, and if i hold the power button the HDD light will blink a few times and then stop... if the battery is put in it instantly turns on and i can hear the hdd spinning and it lights up, same with the ac adapter... HELP

Also i just tried replacing the processor with a similar one (i'm a trash man and people are constantly throwing laptops with little problems away that i rescue and revive) and i still get the same result.... I have seen some reports on heat damage that alienware will not repair without a considerable fee...

looked up on the video card and it seems that the 7900 gs go with the single pipe config in the m9700 and similar dells are all overheating and getting the same answer.. if its out of warrenty your just S.O.L. Never have i had a lemon product that a larger company like this will not either replace or provide a solution... the card works great... while it works... if any of you have the same card i would maybe invest in a different one or find a way to put in dual pipes...
