Since you have Crystal Disk Info, look here:

Yea, that's where I was looking. I updated my post to acknowledge how DUMB I am for not seeing it. Don't know if you read it since the update. Anyway, it appears that my current Samsung PM800's do NOT support TRIM as the "TRIM" on CrystalDisk is greyed out. I'm hoping my 2 new SSD's on the R2 support it. We'll see tomorrow.

    Here's my current drive.

Yep, afraid you don't have TRIM capable drives with your current firmware. Maybe it can be solved with new firmware. Good luck. Didn't see your edit until after my post. Sorry.

Enjoy your new R2 tomorrow. Nothing more fun than a new toy.

Intel® Rapid Storage Technology 9.6 supports TRIM in AHCI mode and in RAID mode for drives that are not part of a RAID volume.

A defect was filed to correct the information in the Help file that states that TRIM is supported on RAID volumes.

Intel® Rapid Storage Technology (Intel® RST) — Is there TRIM support for RAID configurations?

Whether TRIM is or isn't supported in a raid setup isn't really my major concern right now...I'm going to keep the raid setup for a while, but if I notice any performance loss or I need more storage, I'm taking them out of raid. At that point, my SSD's being able to support TRIM will be important to me.

I wonder how much loss in performance you are actually talking about IRL compared to theoretical loss. I would imagine it would take years before you actually notice loss of performance.

Well then I don't need to worry about taking them out of raid or using TRIM then. :)

the new ssd coming from dell support trim without any firmware upgrade if you try to flash the new gen2 ssd with the firmware in the previous mentioned thread you will brick your ssd.

Yea , I'm not gonna flash anything until I confirm that I can, IF it comes to that. Hopefully it's a 2nd gen like you said & I won't have to do anything other than load my pornz on it....OOPS...I meant music.

Even though the D1Q firmware does not support TRIM I believe it does support Garbage Collection which helps.

I had the same firmware and managed to flash both of mine with the C1Q firmware with TRIM enabled.

Of course another option is to call DELL and demand a TRIM enabled drive.
