    hey all,

i just read all through the SSD firmware update by joker and when i tried his links to get the tools to flash my samsung ssd's one of the links is bad.

I'm assuming that without the maindiag.exe tool that im stuck.

Also when trying to create the usb boot stick im prompted for the location of the dos files to load on the stick. I dont have any old dos disks lying around so i'm curious as to what anyone who successfully flashed thier disks did at this step.

thanks for any help you can provide.

on a completely separate issue, i'm getting the following on 3dmark 06:
    3DMark Score 16689
    SM 2.0 Score 6657
    SM 3.0 Score 8086
    CPU Score 4350
    Result name Untitled
    Date Mar 30, 2010 22:14 UTC
    Pro user No
    OS Windows 7

Is that in the ballpark of what i should expect?

i ran vantage but it wont let me see the scores because it says i can only have 1 result with the trial version....oh well.

I really don't know what to say about the SSD firmware for trim because I'm too much of a baby to try it. Hearing of people having decreased performance after doing it and simply disabling it to get their performance back leads me to believe that its not worth the trouble. if enabling trim was a guaranteed performance boost without any negative side effects, maybe I'd go for it, but why should it be this complicated anyways?

as for your 3dmark score, it sounds about right. i know it might seem like processor should only influence the CPU score, but I've been told by several people on this forum that the processor influences the SM 2.0 and 3.0 scores as well, which is why 3dmark06 isn't as a reliable measure of gaming performance as say 3dmark vantage.

Vantage is definately a much better representation of performance. And it has Jane Nash running ;)
