Does anyone have some large horizontal scratches on the inside of the lid where it would touch the keyboard, mousepad and speakers?
There's the one in the photo below as well as another one half the size of that at the bottom of the lid so where it would close over the speakers.

Well, I carry mine around in the backpack and I wonder if I have actually applied too much pressure or the plastic is actually so bad quality that it scratches from just touching another surface. There also seems to be some grainy scratches around that left microphone.. have no idea how I could have gotten those.

i dont have any of those but if i were to take a guess i would think it has something to do with the rubber pads being too small and a little pressure would cause the plastic to rub together. i dont think those marks are scratches. they look more like friction marks.

Agreed with exiled... Probably marks due to friction and pressure. The rubber pads might prevent the two surfaces from touching when resting on your desk, but it's possible that the compression within your backpack is pressing the two surfaces together. Try gently rubbing it out with a soft cloth. If that doesn't work, then it's just an unfortunate disadvantage of using such a high gloss plastic. I wouldn't go so far as to say you have a defective lid though. It's probably going to happen regardless if you have it in a tight backpack.

Yes, friction marks may be the technical name then :p.

I think the rubber pads on my lid are not big enough to prevent things like this happening so I guess I'll just have to live with it, maybe they can replace the pads to prevent this getting worse.

Was it there when you got the laptop or did the scratches appear after?

Yea I have that as well, mostly on top near the camera, but there's some on the side as well. It appeared afterward.

They appeared afterwards so I don't know... I just don't want it to get worse.

well the only way i can think of preventing those friction marks from occuring more frequently is to try and see if invisible shield finally has a m15x cutout.

I posted about this in Feb/March...

It's because there are no bump stops on the top of the laptop near the webcam... only on the corners of the top... The lid bends... and rubs against the area on both sides of the mousepad... If your palms leave any dust or on that area, and you close the lid... the lid can bend, rub, and scratch...
