Hey guys need some help with my second drive.

I got it in raid 1TB but quickly took out dive 0 and put my SSD in loaded everything but the second drive wont show.

It is seen in start up Bios but not in computer Bios.

Also when i go into manage storage it shows the hard drive still haveing the same storage numbers as the raid had.

i cant do anything to change it what do you guys think?

    :)
does your device manager still show the drive with the name of the raid that you created before instead of the name of the drive ?
if so i know what to do..

well i did not creat the name of the raid it came from factory. but the drive simply says Dell then 964gb thats it all drivers are up to date aswell.

do i need to take out the drive and format in a external?

ok, you're going to loose all the info on the 500gigs drive but that's the only way to go around it (or uninstall matrix storage..)
you'll need to go back to bios, change the setting to RAID 0 again, then enter the Raid utility with Ctrl+I and there choose to unraid the disk. It'll ask you to choose the disk to unraid, you'll select it and it will do that for you. Next restart windows will see the disk as it is - 500 gigs and offer to format it cause it will appear unpartitioned.

    Good luck.

All your files, info, operating system, everything is split into both drives. Essentally both drives together are creating one large drive. Well now you just cut your drive in half. So unless you put your old HDD in to the laptop and back up everything to an external, your going to lose everything. Think if it like this. When you tear a $1 bill in half, you don't get 50 cents, you get nothing. Plus as far as I know you can't run RAID with an SSD and HDD. The SSD will need to be your boot/Operating system/application drive, and the other 500GB HDD will need to be your storage drive where you save all music, videos, documents, pics ect.

@DR650SE, it's not his intention to run SSD+HDD raid. Thing is, even if you break the raid array and install the SSD as a primary drive, after installing matrix storage manager it'll still see the HDD as a raid drive, the only way around it is to manually unraid the hdd through the Raid Manager during boot.
The only reason i know that is because i had the EXACT problem yesterday :)

Can he just do a full reformat of the HDD? Or is that not even an option?

not helping.. with windows drivers the drive is recognized ok as 500 (or whatever the size is), but once you install matrix storage manager drivers it stops recognizing the drive and in device manager the old raid array appears instead of the HDD.. stupid because i assumed that changing the drive mode to AHCI from RAID in bios should be enough.
Formatting the drive is impossible as it throws some error as it expects to find a drive twice as large (raid 0)..
Bottom line, unraid with the utility at boot time, format and you're good to go ;)

Ahh got it. Learn something new every day. I've never messed with RAID so this is educational to me. ;)
