Alright now I've done some research and I need your input to see if I should go ahead with this or not. I just ordered an M15x with the 8x optical drive. I couldn't justify spending the 300 to get bluray or 350 to burn blu-ray. However, I have come up with a solution (maybe someone else has done this as well). I am considering purchasing a $120.00 blu-ray reader NEW off of ebay. SATA connections of course. Removing my 8x optical drive from my Smart Bay housing. Then installing the Blu-Ray drive. Is there any special consideration as far as software goes? Some of these drives come with software and some do not....should I care about this? If your responses lead me to believe that this will work I will go ahead and "buy it now" on ebay, then post a tutorial, with pictures, on how I accomplished it and IF it worked. Thanks again,
    Alex

Is it possible to manually upgrade the DVD-RW smart bay drive to a slot load blu-ray drive? If so, could anyone please direct me to instructions as well as which blu-ray model # I would get?

Also, any internal blu-ray drive will work with the smart bay as long as it's SATA?

    Thank you!
