ok,,,, so it has been not more than 2 months since i bought my M17, and the day i get it ,,, a week after that i realize that its discontinued,,,,,, i am an indian resident and i got it shipped from another continent and paid around 200 dollars on custom duty,,,,,,,,, and now i find out,,,its dead,,,,,,,,,,,, so i asked alienware , if they could extend the warranty ,,,and i get a straight "No" as an answer,,,, they also say its DEAD,,,,,,,,,,,then just today i came across the INDIAN dell website,,,,,,, and i find out dell have started selling AW's directly in India,,,,,( nw i can get an M17x directly ) ,,,,,,,,,,,, if only i could have waited a few months (if would have known),,,,,,,

So as there's no smartness in keeping a dead notebook,,,,, I need some advises from all of you on selling my M17,,,,,,,, i'm in need of serious help from all members,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

My machine has a X9100 Extreme processor,
    a Single 3870 as graphics ,,
    4 gigs of ram,
    320 gig hdd,,
    presently running Win7,,,,,,,,,,,,,

what modes can i adopt to sell my m17 at a goodprice,,,,,,,,

is eBay good enough,, or if any1 here wants to buy it,,,,,,,,,, i'd be happy to sell it to u,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

i sold a crappy hp that had an integrated graphics card and turion dual core. I originally bought it new for $450. After almost the 2 yr mark, it died. I sold it as parts on eb*y and got $250. Not bad for something that doesn't work... I would imagine you'd get more money since the M17 has more expensive/better components, but you'd be holding your breath to make $1000.

go on ebay specify it's an ALIENWARE systeme and you could get a good price out of it

if you sell it here you'l get ripped specialy for a single 3870

or you could try to get a upgrade to dual 4850 and beat the crap out of the m17x you might be planing to buy

how is the laptop dead... is it broken or is it becuase its new and now theirs a better one.?

if its the latter theirs nothing the m17x can do that the m17 cannot do maybe 10% differnce but nothing else.

it wil still play the latest games ect with no trouble :)

if you wanted to buy something that holds its price then you should had brought gold :) not a laptop

Don't see any point of selling for 1/3 its original price because your specs especially x9100 is still dead strong for a laptop. You knew you won't be gaming as hardcore when you ordered a single 3870 do you? So there's no reason for you to sell the laptop and get the new m17x. Just enjoy the laptop bro ^^

    P/S: M17 is rock solid ~

okay,,,,, i'm callin it dead because i just have 1 year warranty nd after that if something goes wrong with the system,,, what should we do with it,,,,

this why i'm callin it dead,,,,,,,,,,,, but ,,,, i guess,,, now i just have to keep it ,,,, for around two years or so,,,,,,,, nd then think of a new system.............

actualy you could buy part for it and since you don't have 4850 all the part in you laptop can be replaced by part from other rebrander of the ocz whitebook

The M17 is a rock solid system that has very few problems, it's highly unlikely it'll break in the next few years.

You can't call a laptop dead as soon as it's discontinued. That basically means you'd be upgrading laptops every 6 months to a year, which is rediculous.

I'm GLAD I bought mine when I did, because even now I can't get a more powerful laptop for £1,550. I plan on making it last for the next 3 years easily.

Out of interest why did you only buy a single 3870? Dual 3870s with the 2.26GHz processor would be more powerful in nearly all games than a single 3870 with a 3.06GHz processor. If you DO plan on selling it, buy a second 3870 from Alienware and put it in yourself (make sure you also buy a crossfire cable for it and thermal paste)

i will try to be nice but you can't call a laptop dead because the warranty ends!!!! all this people think something wrong with your laptop  now if something go bad in the next couple years you can replace it, or not? all i can tell you you have the best laptop your money can get ;)

I didn't strip the laptop I sold into pieces.... I sold the whole thing (laptop, original box, accessories, etc..), but covered myself by stating "sold as parts", so when buyer recieved the laptop, they wouldn't complain about getting a laptop that doesn't work.
