should i delete everything on there??? what do they do with these systems???
do they need me to set my passwords off before i send it back??
none of these things have bin answered by dell, and now they are saying someone is picking it up soon lol....
format??
delete sensitive files??
just leave it! ??
im basicly paranoid that they will find something and go AH HUH! lol
its being sent back for poor quality build:
plastic on the back of screen is broken when i received it...
rattle in graphics card area (tinny rattle) and gpu gets a bit hot
tech support sending me VERY rude e-mails that dell has now brung to the tech's attention :\
was offered a new machine, but then i saw the r2's coming out in america so i opted for a refund instead, getting the refund now and getting an r2 with 2x better specs for 300 AUD LESS![]()
-
just shred your drives
-
lol.......
also my media-bar didnt work until a couple of days ago, bit embarrassing buying this new laptop for 3.5k and showing it to a client and i cant even eject the cd -_- -
Just do a respawn prior to sending it back. You don't want an personal data or propietary information on the HDD when you send it as you don't know who is on the other end.
Also as far as customer support and the issue with the techs I would contact dell customer care, and take it up as a concession for your poor service and experience. -
also is it necessary i send back the mouse pad?? its had wear and tear by now ive bin using it on my desktop
-
send back with whatever came with your system. you're getting a new one with the new system.
-
Yea, you need to send back everything that came with your system in the box
-
im currently using the alien respawn but its stuck on 0% with 2 boxes i can tick, i tick and un-tick them and it doesn't do anything :|
its upto the "factory image recovery" part
the HDD's are going nuts so im asuming its deleting all my games etc? -
Yea, it's reformatting everything It takes a while so watch some t.v. or something
-
its hard sending back a laptop that had so much potential
its even harder waiting for a NEW m17x !
when i do get mine, next week sometime i think ill be the first and only in AUS lol..... i ordered it before it was even on the website, so fingers crossed there is no dramas with it -
Hope you didnt get the 920xm else you will be in flickerville lol.
-
be sure to remove the windows.old directory after the respawn. instructions are here:
http://4help.alienware.com/cgi-bin/alienware.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=6076 -
she is quite good and is working with me buying my new laptop and is making sure every step of the way is handled carefully this time (last time the delivery was not on the right time nor day :| )
all for a measly 2930.33 AUD which imo is very cheap considering the price you guys are paying,
RGB LED is also standard, aswell as the 720xm is the base cpu
-
You should. the windows.old directory will have some of your files/docs/info in it.
Better to remove it. -
also, ive set my permissions and there is no "backup" folder :|
i never set one to begin with before, is that why? -
just look for the windows.old directory at the top level of the c: drive. If its not there, then don't worry about it. It should be there though - well, actually, depending on what option you selected at the start of the respawn. I believe there is a choice not to create a backup. So, since you did not opt for that one, then its a non-issue.
-
mmm nope it isn't there :|
oh-well at least all my stuff is off of there :>
bring on the i7! -
At least I still have the RAM and the QX9300. In fact, I may have found a potential buyer for the CPU, local too. And to ship to him is free cuz he's here and military
Oh, and to top it off, when I returned it, I had no problems with the laptop, other then it wouldn't run on battery, but I never looked into that much since I always ran it on power and was giving it up soon. -
wow, that was a pretty small reason to send it back, but was this within the 21 day period??
mine isnt :| it was about 35 days after i had received it
its now packed up and back in its original box
im going to be putting an 920xm in mine once the bugs are sorted out and an ssd, i wont regret it cause the games i play arent very demanding ie mw2 / wow / tf2 etc, im sure i can always whinge about the cards later and get them to replace them with 5870's
if thats possible -
I got mine with the 720 Probably upgrade to the 820 or 920 once they fix the issue with it. And then when they release the 5870s hopefully that will be a BIO's update too so we can use them. It'll be win.
-
Well I'll know the answer by Wednesday directly from AW. If those engineers can't fix it, nobody can. -
At least I insured it.
-
-
-
if they cant fix this 920 issue im refunding and going for either an g73, or waiting for a new kind of i7 dual 5870 laptop to come on the market
-
-
I'll be posting the update in the existing R2 owner's thread. -
Sending back an M17x how to prepare it?
