So I have patiently been waiting for the m17x I ordered on April 29th and it has supposedly been shipped. My order went from phase 5 to phase 9 in less than 24 hours which seems a little quick to include building, installing and benchmarking, but oh well we will see when it gets here.
The thing that bothers me a little more is that the shipping confirmation that I received from AW with the tracking numbers has a completely different order number on it that the order I have been using all along... is this normal? am I being paranoid? or should I just call the CS line when they are open and find out whats up?

prepare for the worst, hope for the best.

Just wait and see what shows up at your door before you panic. Check it thoroughly to make sure it's what you ordered. Check the nameplate, especially, to make sure it's yours. But all components and software should match what you ordered.
If it's all there, and it's all working, then you're good to go! Don't stress in the meantime. -
The_Observer 9262 is the best:)
+1 to what Nirvana said.

Maybe their status page just wasn't being updated through the other phases and it just got updated today

The Phases on the website aren't accurate, I wouldn't worry about them jumping around because it happens a lot - at least that is what customers on these forums report. One way or another, I wouldn't put any faith in the Phases.
-
Ya, I'm not so much worried about the phase game as much as the order number changing and the fact that I have 2 tracking numbers in the confirmation email lol guess I will see when they actually show up
-
did you order a case for the computer? if so, theres your second tracking number. i'm not quite sure how the order number changed... perhaps you mixed up the confirmation number and the order number? but that part is strage, the two shipping numbers means your order is in two boxes.
-
i found that the order number that i used while it was in production is totally different from the one you get when it is delivered and also once you get it the order number you use to contact AW is totally different again.
so dont panic. -
I will be getting my laptop in 10 to 12 hours from now. I have the M17X. Do I have fear yes. But I know Alienware will help in anyway. I will put both Alienware 51 5550 and M17X With a Pro-Star and Acer laptops. Just give a idea on the Size and such. then I will test the M17X and give some idea of facts on it. It not high end but it will be rebuild in two months by me.
What I will do is check the case of the laptop and give people a ideas of how it is and if there any cracks. Or if it make sounds like the M15X. -
hopefully you shouldnt have to worry about cracks on the m17x as theres a lot more room for all the inards and it shouldnt get so hot.
creaks and sounds is a different matter. -
Hay MrDJ I hope your right. But right now I am alone on this setup. I will be reading on this laptop and giving facts. I will not try to flame Alienware. I hope to help them. My setup might not be king of the hill on this setup. But I know my skills. I will rebuild fast.
I felt like everyone on here who had problems. I had a problem and I felt like we all had it, and we all made Alienware look bad. But the more I look at the facts I see that I was the few that had the problem.
I own a area 51 M5550 I ran Hot 110c. It was fix after a few months. Then my sleep mode was not working. That was 3 months. I prove the facts due to my secondary laptop Wlan card.
Yes I will fight if my setup is not right. Then I will fight very hard. I use facts not use bad words to fix the problems. I use companys that make the cooling gels and cpus and wlan cards. I use them to force the Main companys to see the problem. Understanding the problem give them no facts to a problem. It give you a Facts. -
Atol, even if you can upgrade the laptop yourself, AW says that you should only upgrade it with validated components... so, when you do upgrade it, phone them and let them know you are going to upgrade it yourself. I'm sure they will try to sell you the components yourself... just tell them NO and that you wan't to do it yourself.
Good luck for you. -
Unfortunately we tracked your order and it seems you do have an issue with crack, the local crackhead signed for your laptop and sold it on the street for $100. Rest assured though, once you place another order with us and submit a new credit card we will do our best to get another M17X delivered to you instead of the crackhead, please submit a current photo of yourself with this order so the fed-up guy can see what you look like.
Thanks,
Should I be afraid?
