Here are my 2 quotes from Dell. I like the idea of the 15x being smaller but for only 285 more for the 17x. Is there really that much difference between these two?

That one.
Go with the m17x. The screen and 5870 make all the difference -
I agree 100%. No doubt you should get the M17x

M17X, the M15X isnt that much larger than an M17X. 4KG for a 15inch laptop is a waste, it will neither be portable nor a powerhouse. M17X at 5KG is great, with a fantastic screen (assuming u went RGBLED) and dual gpu capability and dual HD capabiloity. Its the way forward imo.
-
M17 is really big that is why I went with M15.
-
The difference in size is definitely not as big as one might think. Screen and GPU of the M17x make a big difference, though. Go with the M17x, buddy!

Not sure this would help but just take a look at the poll result, you've got nothing to lose.

Its really not that different as you might think. The M15X is HUUUUGE with large black borders around the screen, if you look at comparison photos, they are very similar in dimensions.
Also a big selling point for me was the Aluminium body!! its just a more expensive metal and gives it a nice finish imo -
Does anyone have any side-by-side photo/video comparisons of the M15x and M17x?

Cool Thanks

From the picture you can clearly see the difference in size is very small.

well. I do enjoy my bigger screen. and I love what SLI GPUs do for my gaming. -
Consider also the upgrade possibilities. You have room not only for a second 5870 if you want it, but also a second hard drive.
-
Wow
It seems like the M17x is a no-brainer.
I was going to get the i7-620m over the 720QM but they want $50 more. -
I went with the M17x mostly because as people have said, the M15x size difference is not that big of a difference.
I also wanted to have my first ever Crossfire setup as well. I have been loving the M17x since.
Should I get this 15x or this 17x
