    Hey guys.

I have a new m17x with dual 280Ms. I'm not sure if it's best to upgrade the nVidia drivers to the most recent, or stick with whatever Dell have put on which work. Can you guys advise?

    Cheers,
    Ian

If you want the best performance and stability, you should always upgrade your drivers to the latest versions available. Then if you find them unstable or anything, or if your performance decreases, you can always roll them back.

that is the best driver that i found that uses the 280m sli and the 9400m perfectly.

of course there are better drivers that i use but if you want hybrid on, then use that one. i am testing other drivers as well so i can see what's best for the m17x.

    Thanks guys.

So what's the alternative to hybrid? "but if you want hybrid on" implies I might not... bit of a hardware noob here.

191.07 is very very good with all the new sli profiles for new games and the best for most games and benchmarks is dox 182.46..

this is with the 9400m disabled. if you have it on, it won't be pretty.

hybrid just makes it so you dont have to restart to use the 9400m.

I leave it off and if i boot up on battery i use the 9400 anyway

it's so annoying that the 9400m turns on on battery and stealth mode needs to be smarter.

i was tweaking the power settings for best battery and i got it to 3hr and 12min on battery by tweaking and turning on stealth mode and plugging it out.

but then this morning i started it in battery and booted into windows. then when i press stealth mode, it said "windows power options are low and doesn't need stealth mode to be on" or something like that. it said i had 2hr and 7mins. that's a big diffference from over 3 hrs.

i don't know why steath mode just don't work regardless if "it finds out that windows is ok or not with or without it."

    just more testing. :(
