Just curious. I'm considering ordering an m9750 for my fiance to replace her struggling Inspiron. She wants something that the "Alienhead glows blue." I want something I'm not going to go broke over![]()

The only concern I have, is if she see's the m17 I've got..she'll want her's to do what mine does...and well...I don't want to drop another $5K

If you are gaming on it, yes. I recommend the Enermax Aeolus CP001 (review in sig) or the NZXT Cryo LX.

Tell her she is getting same specs as you.

... And when it doesnt work as fast/good...? -

You don't need one at all. I have done a lot of testing, and they don't do anything. I have used both GPU/CPU temperature monitoring programs, as well as my infrared thermometer, and seen no substantial results. As long as it's on a hard surface, and both the intake and exhaust vents are not obstructed, you're good. I use a big hard back picture book.

I don't know about your experience Turbod, but my NC2000 lowers temps by 2C idle, 4C load, but that was AFTER removing the filters on the bottom of my m9750. Beforehand, they were clogged with dust and showed no improvement. I know temperatures don't sound that much but the m9750 runs a lot hotter than most systems. Every degree C helps.

I'm glad it showed some results for someone, actually. 4C is not too shabby.

Mine runs cool, no need for a cooling pad unless you are overclocking the GPU insanely, which i doubt your Girlfriend will do or need

I don't use a cooling pad on my M9750 but it would never hurt.
Should an m9750 need a cooling pad?
