This was my first setup with my m11x

Then I moved up to a full 21.5 inch optx screen

I got a x51 and switched things up a bit. I moved my main desk into storage and pulled my mobile gaming desk out.

Then I picked up another optx lcd

Then I picked up another screen :)

I dont have my current setup pictured, but its triple screen on the x51, then the desk is extended out and has a m14x, m17x, and 2 m11x's

Oh man, I bet your excited for your rig to arrive, that's a massive setup up from an M11X, You better be upgrading your GPUS down the track, otherwise you'll have me on your tail hahaha.

Here's a photo of what i had setup roughly 3-4 months ago.
I used each one for seperate needs,

    Pre 30 inch setup.jpg

the monitor on the left was for music and viewing downlods.
the monitor on the top was for monitoring temperatures
monitor on left was movie watching and gaming, which was uncomfortable, so i made a modification to my desk accordingly
and the laptop's screen itself was used mainly for browsing.

In the last week I optioned for major upgrades - 3 external dell 30 inch IPS monitors and have set this up being powered from a M17X R4 in eyefinity, until my crossfired 7970m arrives , so excited!

that is a nice setup :) how is the laptop running the 3 30inch monitors? i know the m18x and m17x are powerfull computers but that is a demanding tasks even for desktops.. :)

man i'm so excited ! i like the old m18x better than the new ones..... and i am going to buy dual 780s when possible (atleast that's the plan) so i will have the performance of one titan GFX (sli 780m = one titan) atleast that's what i've heard :) and that really would keep my m18x future proof !
7970 is insane 2 ! i'm more into nvidia since i also like to keep the laptop cool and a fact is that amd uses more power and they may very well be stronger but also they are hotter :) i'm gonna OC my m18x

woops... my grammar apparently sucks.. and i was talking about the third picture not the second ^^ excuse me.

I know, I'm really surprised I was able to getting it work well; I had to end up using a feature called daiychaining though which is essentially a method of the computer being able to detect a display which is connected directly to another monitor without a direct connection to the computer itself.

I do prefer the older design as well so hahaha, you're not alone. Nebula red or Space black?

i got this m18x pretty cheap so it was only in nebula red but i actually prefer the space black :) ah i'm so glad that you are with me :D everybody is like ''ermahgerd the new design is much better hurrdurr'' the only thing i want is the new screen thingy thingy.. you know the new design on the back of the screen XD... and yes haswell is awesome and 780 is nice but i still prefer the old then.. plus the chipset for the 3rd gen Intel processors can handle many future gfx ! and the cpu it self while last for a while.. especially with the OC ability. now i just need the asetek water cooling XD !

the eyefinity setup is cool i had it once but i didn't like it that much so.. going single monitor. (=
i am very suprised the laptop GFX could handle it tho.. must be some cons? like a pretty much lower fps.?

i've got a nice deal on this used m17x r3 which is really cheap i am considering buying it 2 and the use it for editing stuff (i'm studying to become a engineer) but i dunno ^^ the r3 is using 2 gen intel processors and i really want an more portable like m15x or m14x (m15x has the mxm gfx so it can be upgraded) :) maybe you can give me some advice :) i know fo sure my m18x will be too heavy for going to school with it (starting at 5.5 kg...) but what about the m17x ?? (=

    thx in advance

That's not a sticker. its a cured vinyl decal.

Its a vinyl printed sheet that's cured to the laptops surface.

Not something that's just peel and stick.

Decided to get a family photo of the laptops. Out of the three, I think the m14xr2 has the best screen.

One of the m11xs is white :)
It has a name plate on the bottom that says aperture science.

It was my portal tribute computer.

But after 2 years of my wife using it, the finish is not so great anymore. Its all scratched and scuffed up. I need to order a full new set of parts for it to make it new and clean again.

It looked super nice when I first did it, but the wife is not too gentle with her computers, so its pretty banged up now.

I kinda want to strip the white and do a camo paint job, but I think in the end I will just get new black covers for it.

Just for the fun of it, I turned on all 3 laptops at the same time to see who was the fastest.
m11xr1 with a m4 ssd booted up the fastest, m17xr4 with wd black raids was the slowest. m14xr2 with a msata cache was in the middle. So, I need to put a cache drive into the m17xr4, cause it was painfull to watch the m11x and m14x boot up, start programs and be ready while the m17xr4 was still in the welcome screen for windows.

But first I need to beef up my desktop line. I need to get ahold of a aurora and a area 51 alx... even if its just the cases.

It actually looks more like one of the Lunar Silver bodies, I think. The sheen from the light is making it look lighter than it really is.

Didn't see 1 of these started already so here we go, always good to have a dedicated place where everyone can share and discuss their Alienware Battle Station!
Here's mine. Note the ghetto shims under the monitor stand. That's actually a really nice keyboard, Cherry MX. That's not bad LCD backlight on the Dell, just glare from the camera BUT ironically enough you can see the backlight bleed on my AW 18.

If only...it's a U2410 and though not without its quirks it's been great where it counts (image quality). The way my eyesight is headed a 30 is next for sure! Well maybe a 27 as I don't want to go past native 19x12, being a gamer.

Oh really? It looks tons bigger than a 24 inch being setup next to the 18 haha.

With 780'S in SLI you shouldn't have any problems running at 2560x1600! I was running it with ease on the 680's with no OC ;)

I'll upload some screenies of my setup later, got eyefinity working off an m18x ^^

1 680m is enough to run most things with playable FPS on a 30'' hp monitor, i.e 3k res like 2560x1600... I know, because I do so myself.. now 780m's...will be roughly 25-40% higher FPS, and if you have SLI and the profiles for whatever your running to support it, your can up some options and get roughly same fps but better visual quality.

680m with maxed out stats in skyrim for instance, and max out in the witcher2 I get 60/15 fps... no SLI profile/ i.e 1 780m only , I get 22fps in the witcher2 maxed out. SLI'd 24 fps.
skyrim becomes unimportant, as with v-sync on I never go below 60(flashing 60/59)
