SkullCap vs. Ripley / Blk vs. Silver on m15x

Just curious as to the overall preferences to design and color.
If you feel like posting why you choose one over the other please do so...

I do not have an AW yet, but i prefer the Ripley, and would prefer the black 15 if this is an option to be had with the possible upcoming updates...

PS - Let us assume that the above variety in the poll is available (even thought black is not) for purpose of the poll...you could even vote for what you would like to see available too....lol

 

I would prefer skullcap black..but I was impatient and got a skullcap silver haha
Ripley reminds me of a dell with an alien head on it..the skullcap really makes it standoutish
I would actually prefer black matte over black glossy since black glossy is a bit *too* reflective. Silver glossy is fine, though

 

well hard to pick black since it's not available yet but from a quick photo I saw I would say black ripley

 

I won't be able to decide until I see a lot of side-by-side pictures. I'm hopefully see all of Alienware's notebooks with different designs at Digital Life in NY. I'd be happy either way, the silver and black m15x both look amazing.

 

If I was going to buy one, I would definitely get the Ripley. As for the color that's a tough choice, but I think I would go for a black one.

 

I love the black ripley case. The skullcap seems just to much. I want sleek and sexy, not bumpy and thicker.

black shows off the lighting and the alien silver logos more... hence its > silver..

the fact black paintjob is going to be matte also means its a clear win over the cheap glossy silver job.

 

Silver Ripley 0 votes! but it's what most of us have.

i noticed that as well....kinda ironic no?

 

ripley to me is to plain and aside from the lighting this thing isn't exactly going to jump out at you in black or silver (thank god for the lights) with the lights I think the silver works the best and I like the skullcaps.

We need some aw's with color again to (blue, green etc) for that matter dark gray with black head/skullcap. A thin/light laptop would be a nice addition

 

I got the silver skullcap..but anyway..i prefer something in silver..black is cool too but i feel that the color absorbs too much heat radiation and gets hot too fast outside..specially here in India..i prefer silver..it reflects heat..so in the practical sense i chose silver skullcap

 

i actually really like silver ripley. black ripley would be nice too, but then the lappie would just be all black. the silver ripley version has some nice contrasts, such as the bezel and the keyboard, and of course bottom. all black might look kinda boring imho.

I've really grown on the Silver Ripley, at first I was disappointed with it not being black or skullcap but its grown on me, I just love it now I personally think the skullcap looks a little tacky now.

 

eh, i prefer black glossy ripley

 

I thought only m17x had the black ripley. I would be cool if m15x has it as well.

Hehe.. I personally love it because it's not glossy so it's not too flashy, instead it's matte black so it camouflages the ribs & makes them look like they're hiding in the darkness.. Kinda like that Alien in the corner of your room eyeing you..

What is the point of this poll? Are those options all available now?

 

I don't think black version is available in US for m15x

 

I know that... that's why I don't see what's the point on this poll and was trying to understand it.

 

This poll might help AW figure out which way consumer demand is swaying..then again the number of possibilities in this poll is quite limited, and there are only 2 color options..people can like stuff in blue too.. just a thought, but most probably, we might see a survey from AW like this down the line..perhaps not so direct though

both blacks are so far ahead of silver. i dont get why. i guess im one of the few people who like silver more than black. go silver + ripley. i really love the silver and ripley combo.

 

i think the biggest reason is the offset for the FX....at least that is one of the reasons i have come across in several postings in the AW forums.

why did/does the silver appeal to you more exiled?

 

since im so lazy it would be less cleaning for me. on any of my other black and glossy devices you can see finger prints so much. the silver on the m15x really hides the finger prints very well. i think the silver matches some of the lights pretty well. not as much as black though.

 

oooooo fingerprints...never really thought that one...the silver grows on ya, but i am still holding out for black (hopefully with the end of Aug announcement... )
but if not, i will get the ripley in silver by then...
