    Hi Everyone,

Now that my M15x is fixed, I am in the process of tweaking it. I have insalled all of my software and now the laptop boots Windows 7 very slowly, which it did not do before my latest motherboard swap. So, I am going through the startup process list, looking for a possible culprit. In my search, I found an instance located in the Run registry key called conime.exe.

From what I can dig-up, this is used by Windows when a non-Western language is in-use. I do not have a non-Western language in use, and was wondering if anyone else has this process running at boot. I am wondering if it is enabled by default, with Windows 7 Ultimate, due to its multi-langague capability. Any ideas? Thanks!

Sounds like a virus to me.. Are you on Windows 64-bit?
EDIT: Find the file and upload it to virustotal.com it scans against most antivirus's engines.
And tell us the file path.

a lot of virus/trojan references when you google conime.exe... i'd remove it and see what happens :)
Also, i'd run a anti malware tool :)

    Hi Brandon1337,

Thanks for the reply. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit (shipped from AW that way). I am 100% confident that it is not the virus that disguises itself as conime.exe. It is located in the correct directory C:\windows\system32, and after I made the post, I was actually able to stop it from loading by doing a registry tweak. So, it is no longer running. I am just curious if i was installed by Alienware, or of some application I installed enabled it. Thanks again for the advice, I will keep that site in mind, it sounds handy!
