    Hello,

This may be me having difficulty navigating both the Alienware site, and MyHive but I'm having trouble finding out how to purchase the additional smartbay battery. I'll be starting classes on the 8th and 1.5hours max doesn't mix will with a 2.5 hour long class!

So my questioning being for anyone with the knowledge...

How would I go about ordering one?

    What is the cost?

Would it be feasible to buy outside of alienware?

If so what would a good place to buy be?

    Thankkk you.

Hey I got one that I never use...It runs on full charge and lasts about 3-5 hours depending on what your doing with the laptop...If its for gaming your probably going to get a good half hour dont expect anymore then that, but for internet use and microsoft office ( basic stuff ) I got about 4 hours even 5 sometimes...
Let me know if your interested I can take pics of it for you and even a video to show you the battery [email protected] hit me up

If you have M15X use the button on the laptop to change to Intergraded gpu so it runs longer if you are useing the 8600 to 9800gt You will use more power.

Call Alienware. I believe that for parts, you will get transferred to service, not sales (that's where they sent me for a graphics card upgrade). My wife gets abouot 5 hours taking notes and doing classwork on battery with the smart bay battery installed.

Yes... that's a different issue with my laptop. Some of my buttons actually ceased functioning. Particularly the proprietary alienware ones. I believe I accidentally did it when fixing my keyboard lag... which is fixed.

However I'd be using photoshop a lot so I'd prefer the GPU. I can't stand working on a large document and having it lag when I simply draw a brush stroke.

    And thank you.

Does anyone know the approximate cost though? I was checking through and it's only $75 for the battery when you buy it with the laptop currently. However I believe I read somewhere it's more separate.

Wow that was lucky tyrien! I would snap his hand off.
Before I bought the M17 I was obsessed with the first generation M17X and still love the look of that machine....I was so close to shelling out £3500 on one of those babies. I thought the smartbay idea is excellent and could come in handy especially for you school guys!

Does anyone know if the new M17X has a smartbay option? I dont believe it does....or am I incorrect.

The m15x smartbay is quite useful, you should call tech support and you can arrange a purchase through them.
