compared to the old rep for having low quality, unreliable laptops with horrendous customer service. This laptop is where they change their whole reputation?

Only time will tell.
-
if this is your current attitude then do not buy one.
-
>.> can't the new m17x be ordered through dell now? If so then you should be able to handle everything through dell customer care.
-
It seems to all be going through dell - the ordering, building and support. Some people think that's good. My experience with Dell so far has been really disappointing. If you do decide to order, make sure you call and don't use the web interface. Phone orders seem to have a priority.

We can only hope, but with Dell now at the wheel, I expect big things from AW. -
What he said.
-
Dell/Alienware have certainly done all the right things with this laptop so far. but again, only time will tell if everything stays that way.
-
My biggest question is-Will they offer refurbished units or coupons? If yes,I am so getting one
-
you can find a list of the available coupons in the first post of the official M17x thread:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=385557
hope that helps. -
but will we get proper coupons? i.e. 15%? also, what about outlet?
-
well, AW has never been known for giving out coupons... and i'm not sure if Dell will do that, seeing how it'd "degrade" their premium gaming brand a bit. outlet sounds more reasonable.
-
I'm sure Dell will since their XPS gaming line had coupons from time to time. Why would it degrade? Because more people will be able to afford it?
-
but also they never game e-something... Well,if they use dells nice sale system,it would be stupid not to use outlet
-
Give it a couple months to hit the outlet. Outlet prices on the XPS M1710 and M1730 sucked when they actually showed up. An outlet coupon was necessary.
-
Well i still think the major problem with dell right now is the serious price difference when looking at it internationally. I live in Canada, Dell does not account for the exchange rate at all! Its 200-500 cheaper, depending on your specs to get it in USD and convert with exchange rate. Just look at the base starting price. 1799 USD = 2012.18 CAD , where as the starting price in Canada is 2,199 . That is absolutly retarded. I asked a rep and he said the only way you can buy in USD is if you have a realitive in the states (which i do, thank god!) but otherwise this needs to be fixed ASAP, i've heard of this happening to people in the UK and other countries aswell, in my oppinion they need to let everyone buy in USD and whatever the exchnage rate is convert

Year! I think it never was like this! I am so happy, I have only seen good service and quality! (I had 2 m17s
)
Greetings

You sound like a troll rather than someone with a valid question.
My M9750 has performed great and still does.
My M17 is quite stellar.
So is all of the customer support I've received. -
yeah i dont know why people are complaining about the customer support they have been fantastic for me.
-
customer support really does depend on location and who is on the other side
-
yeah im debating on if i should order using the 7% epp and 4% dpa discount or waiting for a coupon. i dont really "need" it tomorrow or anything so i can wait a bit but i dont want the price to get jacked up (i doubt they will do but you never know)
-
zfactor i think you should wait until the 26th of June before purchasing a laptop to get the free windows 7 upgrade
-
Agreed. My m9700 has been the most stable machine I have ever owned and it looks like my new m17 will do a good job of taking it's place. And their customer support has never been anything but great for me.
-
doesnt matter much to me since ill get 7 for free anyway through my company.. but i do think i may give it another week to see.. this is def my next laptop though even with the new sager.. i just dont want a 18"
So is the new M17x supposed to a revolutionary turnaround for Alienware?
