Core2 even not turion x2- lord with two 7950gtx's and raid that thing will be a monster in weight and price too.
The thinner one with the x1900 is interesting as well.

Fantastic news, I believe this is the first Intel-based Core 2 Duo notebook on the market. Finally, SLI notebooks have broken free of the Turion chains.
Better yet, this notebook is a 17", not 19" or 20.1", and it has dual Go7950GTX 512MB cards and overclocked Core 2 Duo processors. Dual hard drives are another plus.
I'll be interested to see how the X1900 performs (there's not enough details about the chip out right now to speculate, other than it will be faster than the X1800), but somehow I doubt it will surpass Nvidia's top-end chips.
Thanks again for the heads up. -
It is also called the arima 830 the same model as the amd one
-
wow what a beast
-
Is there any way to buy the arima barebones or from a reseller becuase something tells me AW will charge in the neighborhood of 5k and without the alien it may be a bit cheaper.
-
No there isnt
even though you can look at the stats of the barebones on the arima site
alienware is the only retailer worldwide for this model.
It could be temporary but that is current. -
Figures, I'm sure if AW can do anything about it it will remain that way
-
My m9700 has plenty of power for today's games. The new m9750 is going to be a real beast!
-
Core 2 Duo and SLI is great news! That m9750 looks really nice. The Black lid looks good too.
Thanks for posting that! -
alienware changes the lcd lid and i think even more based on the pictures because the arima version is all gray and featureless.
like arima makes computers for gateway, those arent on its site.
Thats a key difference. This is just a barebones and its advertised on the arima site.
But no one but alienware sells the 830 it could just be they bought them all.
it suggests that someday you may see someone else sell it. -
Anyone else notice that all the CES coverage seems to think that this is the first 17" SLI notebook? What about the Alienware Aurora m9700? That's been out for a while and it has SLI.
-
-
Yeah, I know, but the Cnet video coverage of the CES seemed to imply that it was the first SLI available in a 17", which I found misleading.

"... and it's actually the first 17" laptop that we've seen that has two graphics cards ... working together" -
Just joking.
Nice article, would like to know if it will be possible to get the barebones units from the original makers later. -
i want one now!!!!
So much for SLI being limited by single core...
