    My darling loving future wife see's the laptop after it arrives...I've used it for a total of 15 minutes since. She doesn't even game, but it's "pretty" so she wants it. Now I'm left getting another M17. The good news is I can upgrade the processor over the old one :)

    Here are the new specs:

    Erm :p call me silly but.. Since your wife doesnt game at all and i guess she just uses her pc to basically type stuff/watch videos/images etc, why spend so much money just to upgrade the cpu ?

    I mean you could easily just order a m17 with 1 card, smaller screen resolution and the first cpu option which will cost like £1000 less (minimum) and just order a new cpu for less to replace the one you have. :p

    must be fun to match laptops although it is a more expensive thing to match especially an AW.

    You see Cool...I asked the same question....but her response...it won't have an Alienhead that glows blue....when I told her the new machine with a few downgrades would be let her chat on AIM to her friends and watch her missed TV shows just fine...she wasn't hearing that.

    I pick my battles where I know I can win them, this was one I was doomed to lose from the start..

    Well, first of all wife's got more power than that and dont take no for an answer :p

    But tbh a m17 costs like £1100 if you dont upgrade it, which you shouldnt if you dont game at all which is fairly cheap.

    I forgot to add, I'm still trying to convince her to do some gaming...so that way when I'm spending hours and hours playing WoW or other random games then maybe she'll enjoy that. Otherwise, she forces me to sit through Jon & Kate Plus 8, which is almost like birth control on television.

    Which is something that a single card can do. They get 8-9000 3dmarks which is quite decent. :p

    This wasn't exactly "offered." It was more...a reallocation of resources.

    On the positive side, I think this will get me that wet bar for the basement I've been asking for...

    Looking like Phase 6 is this one's sticking point. Been there for two days now. I'm just glad this one's mine not hers. If it was hers, she wouldn't have piece!

    I wonder if I keep hitting refresh repeatedly if it's eventually going to show something other than Phase 6 on here. I think I must have made Alienware's order status page made, because I went to Phase 1 for a while. Then after an hour or so of not clicking refresh, I was back on Phase 6.

    I better stop clicking refresh!

    Just forget about phases when the day comes it will ship the phase page is very buggy so you order may be in phase 8 but it dint update.

    It will get here when it gets here. I just remember on the first machine I sat in Phase 2 for about 2 weeks! This machine can take all the time it needs. I was expecting to get it until next year anyway.
