Soooo im pretty upset that my laptop is now out dated within the short time that i've had it and i've got some upgrading questions that need to be answer

#1. Ive read up on "bottlenecking" and i'm wondering if my system would have the problem.

#2. Which part should i replace first, CPU or GPU?

#3. Is the m15x user upgradable?

#4. Is the T8100 CPU over-clockable and how far should i set it and if anyone had a program/tutorial on how to do it?

Upgrading is not difficult but It does require quite a bit of technical experience, if you can handle tearing your laptop down to bits, then finding parts will be your only challenge. As far as overclocking goes, there was indeed a guide on here before but any time you overclock be well aware of the fact that your system may not run in a stable fashion. Hope this helps a bit!

P.S. - replace whatever you can find parts for, as any upgrade will definitely yield a nice performance boost for you :D

so it would be possible for me to rip my laptop to shreads just to swap out a new gpu/cpu and slap it back to together? and yes i do know the risks of overclocking i just wanna have an outline of how far i should go and if my cpu could even be over clocked.

Yes, not quite to shreds but you will do a bit of disassembly, you will also need a new heatsink if you go to the 8800 gtx. This can be as tricky to find as the card itself. You will also have to apply fresh thermal paste to both parts upon replacing them. From what I remember, you can push the OCing pretty far, we had a member on here that was pulling some pretty insane benchmarks so with the right external cooler and right configuration you can get some pretty sick performance. Maybe someone can throw on the link to the post?

It really escapes me atm >.<

    1. Look like the GPU is the bottleneck

    2. Same as #1

    3. Yes. The ram, Harddrive, LCD, GPU, CPU, and the wireless card, and turbo memory.

    4. No, you can't overclock the T8100.

upgrading the GPU would give you the most gaming boost for sure.

Find out what slot for graphics the laptop has, and the maximum heat the slot can handle and buy a graphics card with those specifications.

The 8600m is rather underwelming so any newer card that works in the laptop like the 8800gtx would blow it out of the water.

yeah mobile gpu's are hard to find online... and usually over priced unless you find one on ebay. I think the highest you would be able to go is 9800m, which may require a bios flash. As for the cpu... you can only stick to the c2d family.
Trying to switch stuff out can be expensive if you don't know what you are doing cause if you buy a gpu, most likely there will be no returns. I recommend selling on ebay and using that money to fund a better laptop.

Edit: a 280m has been put in that laptop but, not sure if a flash is needed.
