Hey guys, its been a while, but this is finally starting to drive me crazy.

I own an Alienware M17. Sometimes, not everytime on start up the windows intro sound and all sounds for that matter become really lagged and incredibly scratchy. As if the sound itself is glitched and lagged. This only happens once in a while but i notice that when this happens not only does the sound become scratchy/glitchy/lagged, but the computer slows down. Any ideas as to what this may be? I've kept this computer in pristine condition and havent messed around with the BIOS or anything....

    Thanks for your time mates!

i think you are suffering with the sleep issue

quick answer is dont put the machine into sleep mode, reboot from cold and you should be fine

I would suspect that you need to update to the realtek 2.2 drivers and avoid putting the machine into sleep mode and you should be set

tbh i dont know the inns and outs but i am sure that someone here does

but basically when you come out of sleep mode it enters a kind of stealth mode where the video and audio constantly lag, i made the mistake of doing it with my m17 :)

i just dont bother with it now

vista is is the issue for the sleep issue. It does not fully resume and the drivers for the sound and GPU clash and causes it to lag

Although if you do a search, there's a fix for it.

It involves removing the audio and video drivers, and reinstalling them in opposite order.
