I have a philips ambilight lcd and im trying to watch a movie on it from my laptop through HDMI. the screen comes up but when i play a movie there is no sound. I went to my mobility center to see if the dmi connection was displayed and enabled and it was so i dont see the problem. It shows Speakers, indepent (rtc) headphones and HDMI

There have been others that have experienced the same problem. I believe it has something to do with the Cyberlink Software. I'm not sure anyone figured out how to get it working, however.

Try set HDMI to default under Playback Devices.

Try Media Player Classic (not the same as Windows Media Player).

In Media Player Classic, click the menu Options -> Output and under DirectShow Audio, select Digital Audio(HDMI).

Well, at least check if HDMI Audio Out will work at all in MPC on your problem PC.

Has HDMI Audio Out ever worked on the above PC?

Change the settings in your sound card software! thats what I did. I had to change the settings in the Realtek software.

I suspect its something different in the M17X.

    good luck.

    Hi,

Sorry I did not respond earlier.....I have just returned from work. Well on the M17 I clicked on the "Realtek HD audio manager" icon in my system tray. Once opened I clicked on "set default device" only once I had my PC connected to my TV snd it worked then.

What sound hardware/software do you guys use in the M17X?

OK good luck mate! I think sometimes its good to take a rest away from a problem and then come back the next day and look at it with a fresh pair of eyes.
Im sure its just a settings issue and somehow needs the default output device changing.

    Good luck either way!
