So someone spilled it on my M17x that was bought in June. Now the thing won't turn on. I turned the computer off immediately after it got wet, and put it by a fan all night to dry out. Just tried to turn it on, and it won't. I noticed the blue light on the AC adapter turns off when plugging it into the computer, which led me to believe it was a power supply problem. Smelling the back of the computer it kind of smells like something shorted out.

Also the keyboard and power buttons are sticky and messed up I think. I have the 1 year default warranty. What are my options?

    Thanks for any advice.

Well you can try putting in a normal warranty request and see if they will fix it. But that's why I always purchase complete care, I always have drinks near my notebook and I know one of these days something's going to spill on it.

Should I just say I woke up and it wouldn't turn on?

Sounds reasonable. Tell them that you played only 28 hours of gaming, instead of 45hrs of gaming and you dont see what the problem is.

p.s. they will find out that you spilled something on it. who ever spilled it on it should replace it. balls up

You can disassemble the system and do a full clean-up before sending it to Dell. In that case you will get it fixed.

I would just call up the warranty section of Dell and add complete care.

Then file a claim. I did this a few years ago when my cc warranty ran out and I forgot to extend it.

It worked just fine for me.
